Irene, Oof course I do not know the specific source of the the "tiger news" in this OP. But, as a result of your comment, I did do a quick/brief tiger search, and found that the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) does state, "After a century of decline, tiger numbers are on the rise". But there being still only slightly under 4,000 tigers remaining around the world is certainly nothing to brag about!! >:(

The only rise in tiger population that I'm aware of is in captive breeding programs. Since I follow news related to tigers, my favorite animal, I can't say I agree with the WWF.
The only thing I might agree with would be that the wild population
might be static. I sincerely doubt tigers in the wild are breeding at levels that will prevent their extinction.
