I was teetering on one of those small ladders thinking I could wash the grime off the air conditioning duct things in the ceiling.
Stupidly used Dettol spray and some drips fell on my carpet and now they've turned white.
What can I do. I'm thinking there's a bloody lineage curse on the females of my family.
soap and water fast.longer it sets,more damage it does.majic marker to blend color back as best as possible.

Biggs, you need to get rid of that Dettrol; among other things, it has xylene in it, which is very nasty stuff; it is a skin contact carrier, and anything mixed with xylene penetrates human skin instantly, just like DMSO would...

i tried to look it up but found nothing helpful my only comment is i would try some baking soda (with or without some warm water) on it then when it dries vaccum it up
not being a chemist i don't know if that will work or not but i don't think it would hurt
baking soda and apple cider vinegar are my go-to's for a lot of things

what they neglect to mention is that xylene/xylol/xylenol has been linked to DNA damage and if you ever see the EPD on tv checking on suspected toxic waste dumps, if you pay attention to what is said, the primary toxin they are looking for is
Xylene. 8)
