Hawaii Becomes the First State to Pass a Bill in Support of Universal Basic Income

Here you go Amy... hitch a ride to HAWAII...

QuoteThis month has shown that Hawaii may be the U.S.'s most forward-thinking state. Earlier in June, it became the first state to formally accept the provisions of the Paris Climate Accord, and now, the state congress has passed a bill that puts Hawaii on the path to universal basic income.
EYES ON THE FUTURE

Innovation and forward-thinking may be Hawaii's two biggest exports in 2017. Earlier this month, the state earned the distinction of being the first in the U.S. to formally accept the provisions of the Paris Climate Agreement after President Donald Trump decided to withdraw the nation from it, and now, Hawaii is taking the lead in embracing yet another innovative idea: universal basic income (UBI).

Today, Hawaii state representative Chris Lee wrote a Reddit post about House Concurrent Resolution 89, a bill he says he introduced in order to "start a conversation about our future." According to Lee, "After much work and with the help of a few key colleagues, it passed both houses of the State Legislature unanimously."

Lee also mentioned the development via Twitter:

I am not impressed.  It just makes Us all the more dependent on the corporation Most call "government," but which I translate from Latin and call controlmind.  Far better would be to release free energy so We don't account for Human energy at all.

"If You have to account for Your energy to anOther to survive, You are NOT free; You are a slave."

To govern = to control.  "Ment" is derived from Latin meaning "mind."

First of all, "government" is not a Latin word, so "translating it from Latin" means nothing.

Decomposing the word into its two parts may appear to mean "control"+"mind", but look at other words with the suffix "ment", like "enhancement" or "bombardment". The suffix "ment" is used, on those words, as meaning "action of", so we get "enhance" + "ment" = "action of enhance" or "govern" + "ment" = "action of govern". Other words ending in "ment" have a different origin but the same suffix.

In Portuguese we don't have that problem, as the words that are made with the Lating suffix "ment" resulted in their Portuguese versions ending in "mente", like "nomeadamente" (namely) or "subitamente" (suddenly). As you can see, those words in English end in "ly".
The Portuguese words that end in "mento" come from the Latin suffix "mentum", like "bombardeamento" (bombardment), and that suffix is the one used in "government", that, in Portuguese would be "governamento", but we don't have that word, we only use "governo".

French is in the same situation as English (or vice-versa, as the English words are more recent than the French words from where they came), with the Latin suffixes "ment" and "mentum" giving origin only to one French suffix, "ment", for words like "gouvernement" (government) or "vraiment" (truly).

Thanks. :)

Although not my language, most suffixes and prefixes are the same (or close to the same), as they come either from Latin or Greek. As Portuguese has many words that come directly from Latin it's easy to understand it for someone that speaks Portuguese. :)

Fair enough, ArMaP.  I stand corrected.  Though I had been lead to think that the "ment" was derived from "mentis."  Be that as it may, the argument (LOL!) could be made that the present corporation is indeed seeking to control Our minds, and therefore, "controlmind" is an apt English-based summary term.

No surprise this is being shoved down the throats of those who pay the taxes, so those who refuse to become a productive member of a strong self sufficient society have a way to pay for their cigarettes, beer, hot pockets, and weed...and internet, so they can complain about how the man is keeping them down..

And NO, dont assume this is directed at monorities..i.e. black or hispanic people, it is pervasive throughout all races, and if you think thats my platform here, you yourself are showing signs of racism, not me.

I, as a taxpaying business owner, decry these measures as just more socialistic/communistic endeavours by an ever increasing liberal political power which will chew off it's own feet, to avoid having to buy shoes from a company who profits from making shoes.

With colleges teaching Marxist, socialist, and communist values to students with moldable minds these days, it seems normal for this kind of stuff to rear its ugly head.

...See any Jordan Peterson video....

And it isnt going to improve until people rise up and take action against these entities(lifetime self serving politicians/colleges/professors) and quash the non-progress of so called progressives in this country and abroad.

What better to make a politician's job more profitable (control wise) and easier, than a society of people who sit back and suck on the teat of government?

As for robots..who is going to design, build and employ these robots.in whose buildings, on whose property? Who will fix them? Who will place them into order so they work together in efficient ways? Sure, there are lots of jobs for folks in a world like this, but there is going to be no pay, no room for self improvement, and citizens living in it just become batteries for the machine.

When people see how their efforts however great or small mean nothing in the scheme of things, will they realize they need to step up and make a difference, or blend in with the laity like a good communist does?

My money is on the former, since most people inherently want more and better, not adequate, and the same.

A utopian society requires the cowering members to stand in line to collect their meager pittances to just survive,  but thankfully,it is human nature to excel and be better than the day before, and that is why socialism/communism will fail, as it always does.

I think we need to set aside a portion of our nation for people who think these tenets of a psychopathic agenda are a positive choice for all, and fence it off, then watch it fall apart...furthermore expanding human understanding that to just coast along is not to live.

Call it Dumbassland..or...Lazystan...or...North San Francisco...anything but America.

The standard of living is already insane.

Gallon of milk - $6 to $8

Loaf of bread - $4 to $5

Gallon of gas - $3 to $5

Pack of cigs - $10 to $12

One bedroom apt - $1800+

Stats (averaged) from six different websites.

I love Hawaii. I've always wanted to live there, but it's too damn expensive.  :(

Think about it, z.  This is the first step, indeed.  The next step will be:  You don't get Your minimum if You don't (fill in the blank with any nasty thing You care to mention - like get vaccinated with toxins, cancer-causing agents, etc.).  What control over Us this has - because We persist in the archaic practice of accounting for Our energy to survive - and poorly, for Most, when We COULD all be living RICHLY on OUR planet (stolen from Us by the psychopaths in control through "trusts" and deceit).

Again, I'm not impressed, and no...  I have no interest in going to Hawaii.  I want to go home to Georgia.

The problem is that statistically it is about 20% of the population that has the drive to excel while the 80% watch from the sidelines and wait for the handouts, but at the same time are the ones that whine and complain about everything.

Just check throughout history and you will see these percentages are correct.

Any high power sales seminar uses these same figures  with the added caveat that only 5 to 10% think outside the box  and this is why 80% of the wealth ends up in 20% of the population with the top 5% holding most of that

The American Revolution that gave us freedom was fought by the 20%  We were truly free until 1914...  but in thanks the 80% vilify the very groups who gave us that freedom and label them "Evil Illuminati"

And the really hilarious thing is that they 80% of "useless eaters" are pushing the conspiracy theory that the 20% want to exterminate the 80% (chemtrails, FEMA camps, vaccinations, etc etc)  But if they did that the 20% would no longer have control You cannot control what you kill :P

There is an old saying  "A FOOL and his money are soon parted"  This is TRUTH  Just look at all the lottery winners who are broke a few years later.  The solution? STOP being the fool and stop thinking like the 80%

Look at Zimbabwe right now  They are kicking the white farmers off their lands and giving the land to young blacks...  how long do you think these young blacks getting this land grab handout are going to produce food at the same level?  And we are NOT talking evil white overlord plantation owners here :P And the whites are being relocated to a retirement luxury area where they can play golf, not being ousted.  Point is these young bucks... will they have the same drive to produce?  Well look around Africa these days... the sad truth is this is probably the end of Zimbabwe

So it seems Africa has beat us to the punch, such progressive thinking.

Zorgon, you are absolutely right in your assessment over how Zimbabwe will fail, and anyone who says your comment is racist, has never been outside of their sealed box.

We are racists for pointing out facts about any non white ethnic group these days, but people need to remember, stereotypes dont build themselves, they are the result of astute observation of those various ethnic groups over time.

The sad thing is, all the people who try to be productive and helpful members of society, are drowned out by those who wish to just exist, and coast along, using resources and taking up space, creating multiple offspring which they imprint with their sociopathic ideologies.. who will in turn often turn out the same or worse than their parents due to home brainwashing, and cultural disenfranchisement.

White people like me arent built any different than all the other races, its cultural and mental differences that separate us, and make us seem as if we are such horrific overlords.

And to top it off, whites who reject their so called white privilege, and go full on SJW retard, are just wasting their time since they are preaching to the 80 percent Zorgon speaks of, who either are too apathetically lazy to care, or do anything different than theyve done, beyond clicking like on facebook when some pasty white dude from Berkeley says we should all be ashamed of ourselves for having strong ideals and systems of personal benefits and wealth..such as generations of families working hard to build businesses, or communities which have had creative political leadership making for safe, clean, relatively crime free areas to live in.

But make no mistake, democrats and liberals, communists and socialist alike, still need to addict their constituents to get votes to beat the 20 percent in elections, and that is also why there is so much hemming and hawwing from the 80 percent, since they have been trained in time to be good little suckers of the government teat, and are now worthless in a forward moving society, furthermore creating a gap between them and hardworking members of society with pride in what they maintain.

Observe the muslim invasion of Europe right now, and how liberal policies are backfiring in their faces, by letting barely civilized muslims to overrun their towns and cities without a sign of abating. This is a perfect example of how third world immigrants will bring down the whole of society, since even the best swimmer cannot tread water with his pockets filled with lead weights.

Lazy apathetic behavior is not a desirable trait for humans, and never has been, anymore than sloth and greed, but when the 80 percent suddenly feel they deserve some of the 20 percent's stuff for free, thats where the wheels come of the free train, and these utopian dreamers get a hard dose of what its like to be kicked to the curb, hence their feelings of being left out, or treated as second class citizens.

Add in religion and the ship sinks quickly to the bottom with all logic and reason locked firmly in its holds.

As I said..sadly...its happened before, itll happen again, the low castes will rise up against those who have built the society that feeds, clothes, and employs them, thanks to the 80 percent making sure of that by having more children than the 20 percent and eventually just tipping the scales by sheer numbers.

And then as they always do, and like Zimbabwe will ultimately be guilty of, they will run the system into the ground ending civilization as we know it one more time.

The problem is that statistically it is about 20% of the population that has the drive to excel while the 80% watch from the sidelines and wait for the handouts, but at the same time are the ones that whine and complain about everything.

I don't see the majority whining for handouts.  Most unsuccessful people who make noise, like those at Occupy Wall Street, actually do have ambition; it's just that they also view themselves as victims and lack belief in their own responsibility.

The real majority are those who just silently glide through life.  We don't hear from them or about them, because they never make a sound.  They go through their daily routines, each day every day, until they die.  Said real majority are not generally among the homeless unless something truly catastrophic happens, either; because the one thing that said majority excel at, is always doing exactly what they are told and following the herd, and most of the time their obedience is enough to get them through.

It won't make them happy, no, but we're talking about people who exist on a cognitive level where neither emotion or anything else is consciously acknowledged by the individual to any great degree.  My mother exists in this category to a large extent, although she is vaguely sentient in some respects.

You've basically got a psychopathic minority of 4-7% on the one hand, freaks like us on the other, (who are about the same percentage of the population again, if that) and 90% who are largely unconscious in the middle.  My entire purpose in Nimbin was trying to assist in the process of waking some of said 90% up.  In some cases, I succeeded to a certain extent, and it was a glorious thing to behold.

Humanity is worth saving.  The vast majority, if left to their own devices, do have fundamentally positive intentions.  The problem is that they also tend to be cowardly, obsessed with instant gratification, motivationally inert, collectively minded, and devoid of faith in their ability to think for themselves.  I don't believe in original sin, but I do absolutely believe in original stupidity.  More than anything else, the two characteristics which most human beings lack, are audacity and intelligence.

My goals have shifted in the last few years.  I am not interested in Utopia any more.  I've seen the promise of that used as a pretext for subjugation and exploitation too many times; and I also know that such societies always require the vision of every single inhabitant of them, which does not exist today, even if it ever did.  Heaven is in the Afterlife; it is not fundamentally meant to exist on Earth.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXZXLmzyKkw

My interest now is exclusively in feeding people, smoking with them, helping them heal; and then, once that has been done for a long enough period of time, watching them truly open their eyes and look around, often for the very first time in their lives.

If you want to help in a Spartan victory, clear the battlefield of the dead, tend the wounded, bring them water. But as for the fight itself, I cannot use you.

-- Leonidas to Ephialtes, 300.

That was not good enough for Ephialtes.  I am trying to make it good enough for me.
