Anyone know what base this is in Nevada?

Furthermore what is the purpose of that design in the sand?

The design in the sand? Those lines with numbers? Those are runways  LSWONE used to work there. Palmdale is to one end... NASA Dryden research Center (now renamed Niel Armstrong center and no longer open to public tours :( ) and the rocket test stand is just north of that but it's not Nevada... just into California

Great thanks!

But I'm not talking about the runways.

In the lower left of the photo these is a huge circular design etched into the desert.

It also has bisecting lines and numbers relating to degrees.

???

Can you crop it?  Not seeing it..

Oh wait I see it  further up  Okay that is a compass  You can see it is at the end of a runway. It helps them get the coordinates visually for those runways in the dirt
