"When the X-rays blast electrons out of one atom, stripping it from the inside out, it steals more from its neighbors – a new insight that could help advance high-res imaging of whole viruses, bacteria and complex materials.
When scientists at the Department of Energy's SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory focused the full intensity of the world's most powerful X-ray laser on a small molecule, they got a surprise: A single laser pulse stripped all but a few electrons out of the molecule's biggest atom from the inside out, leaving a void that started pulling in electrons from the rest of the molecule, like a black hole gobbling a spiraling disk of matter.
Within 30 femtoseconds – millionths of a billionth of a second – the molecule lost more than 50 electrons, far more than scientists anticipated based on earlier experiments using less intense beams or isolated atoms. Then it blew up.
The results, published today in Nature, give scientists fundamental insights they need to better plan and interpret experiments using the most intense and energetic X-ray pulses from SLAC's Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) X-ray free-electron laser.
Experiments that require these ultrahigh intensities include attempts to image individual biological objects, such as viruses and bacteria, at high resolution. They are also used to study the behavior of matter under extreme conditions, and to better understand charge dynamics in complex molecules for advanced technological applications."

I find this very interesting because Black Holes emit huge streams of x rays.
Yet x rays create Black Holes of an electro magnetic nature.
Which reinforces my belief that gravity and magnetism are cousins even more.
Do you think that gravity and magnetism might be two sides of the same coin, or two facets of the article?

Hard to say at this point Shasta.
They both have properties of attraction and repulsion which makes them appear similar in some ways, so yes they may be two sides of the coin or facets.
Very interesting that they both have x rays in common.
Now that we have the technology to see inside black holes and have done so to an image of the Pictor A Black Hole -

I am reminded of how in high school we put a piece of paper over a magnet, and then poured iron filings on the paper and got patterns similar to the above image.
That also got me thinking about all the x-rays I've had this year. Dental work, and then my hip fracture. And i keep thinking about "Little Girl Lost," on The Twilight Zone. My mind is putting things together in interesting ways.
Do you think that black holes could have any similarities to the wormholes postulated in the Star Trek franchise?

Well actually... yes.
It turns out with this new technology shown above provided by the Imaging Team, that we see TWO event horizons not one, as originally predicted by the guy who translated Einstein's theories into mathematical values.
What this means is that with two event horizons in theory we should be able to move between these two horizons inside the black hole, as predicted by Einstein's contemporaries of the day, who were also correct in predicting two horizons.
This of course opens the door to the possibility of entering through one horizon and exiting through another.
This is a big leap forward in black hole/wormhole theory, as it is now confirmed as fact not theory.
The math conversion values done on Einstein's theories, now requires some adjustments since they only predicted one horizon, as first discovered by the Skunkworks, and stated by Ben Rich.
You will also need to be able to produce an insane amount of voltage to maintain and traverse these two horizons.
But actually this is quite doable when you have a matter/antimatter reactor to create your voltage, which we know is a reality in future alien technology such as the craft at Area 51.
So wormholes and antimatter reactors are at least two predictions they got right. 8)
Maybe Gene Roddenberry had some inside information. The original communicators were pretty similar to flip phones, and the later communication badges aren't that different than Bluetooth devices. Now I wonder how much the various governments have known for years, but kept hidden. Of course the reasoning is always the threat of mass hysteria if people knew the truth, but is that an accurate assessment? Maybe people would take things in stride, while also demanding better accountability from the various governments.
The ultimate question in physics in a way is what the hell causes attraction/repulsion. It is almost the same as asking what makes the Universe happen. Basically without attraction/repulsion there is no motion. if there is no motion we experience nothing and there is nothing to observe.
Quantum physics appears to prove there is no way of separating the observer from what they observe. Therefore without motion there is nothing at all.
So attraction and repulsion - which basically boils down to sex/polarity - is the ultimate mystery in my opinion. Explain that and you probably understand the universe.
ETA: I forgot to say that motion is also inseparably linked to the other great mystery. Time.
Here the Imaging Team has turned the above image on it's side, then colorized and labeled the various segments of the Pictor A Black Hole to help differentiate them from each other and display the separate Event Horizons -

We decided to post this discovery here first, so that in the future we can prove that the Imaging Team was the first ever to make this discovery, via our unique image processing, and so that you the reader are among the first people on the planet ever, to actually see inside a Black Hole!

Yes discovering Gene's inspiration or sources would be interesting.
And the flip phones could be life imitating art. Bluetooth is a logical extension of flip phones and communicators.
Various governments knowledge is an unknown variable. US government would try to mislead/misinform foreign governments because of particle beam weapons and antimatter reactors on board these craft.
Possible public reaction was studied back in the beginning of the modern UFO era by the Rand corporation.
Their recommendations were very often adhered to and steered policy decisions by the military and government.

Yes and yes.
Good points and the ultimate mystery of attraction.
Let's add to the list of the curious - Why do all Solar Systems studied by Kepler spin in the same direction?
What unseen law dictates this?
QuoteETA: I forgot to say that motion is also inseparably linked to the other great mystery. Time.
And Time is locked into a type of Ohm's Law equation with Gravity and Space where a change in one value effects the others.
@A51, do you know if all the moons in our solar system orbit their planets in the same direction? and in the same plane?? our moon is "tide-locked" apparently, are other moons do you know bud? and I think I understood that the planets all rotate around the sun in the same direction ?
Cheers!

I think all moons orbit their planets on the same plane as the planet spins, but not all orbit in the same direction, the most famous case being that of Triton, the biggest moon of Neptune.
Pluto does not orbit the sun in the same plane so most likely it was captured later.

Are they spinning deosil, or widdershins? And that leads to the question of what did Kepler believe? Was he only studying planetary motion that conformed to his beliefs?
Seeing that during Kepler's life only 6 planets were known, I don't think he had much to choose from. All planets on the solar system have prograde orbits.
Interesting...this tech might someday be implemented for 6th Gen electronic warfare...
Sixth generation warfare: manipulating space and timeQuoteOther methods
There are other ways we can manipulate space and time to our military advantage. We can jam radar and communications systems and make our enemy deaf, dumb, and blind. We can deprive the enemy of the information needed to position his assets and carry out an attack, or effectively respond to an attack. This is called electronic warfare (EW) The first example of this concept took place in April 1904, when the Russians jammed the RF communications between a group of Japanese Navy battleships in the Russo-Japanese war, with spark-gap transmitters. The Japanese could not plan and coordinate the shelling of a Russian naval base at Port Arthur, China.
We have platforms today, like the older EA-6B (Navy) Prowler, and the newer EA-18 (Air Force) Growler with extensive EW capability. Also, all our fighters and bombers are equipped with on-board EC (electronic countermeasures) systems. NERO (Networked Electronic warfare Remotely Operated) systems are being installed on our UAVs. And we have similar systems on our warships and submarines. The problem with jamming our enemy's radars and communications is that it tells them we are there, and about to do something. That's fine if already in a fight. However, taking-over their systems and controlling them before the fight starts, gives our forces tremendous advantages.
Still skeptical? Look at what the scientists at Purdue University did in 2011. They modulated two light beams out of phase, in an optical fiber, creating a "hole in time." In that hole, they placed data. Anyone intercepting that signal would only see a flat-line frequency of light, unless they know how to demodulate the out-of-phase light frequencies and retrieve the data (http://www.forbes.com/sites/alexknapp/2013/06/06/take-that-nsa-scientists-hide-communications-using-a-hole-in-time). You can bet that the National Security Agency (NSA) and the crypto guys are interested in this technique of time manipulation.
There are many more examples of how we can manipulate space and time in 6GW warfare, but my evil masters will not give me the space to explain them here. Just understand that in 6GW, we are getting inside our enemy's OODA loop (Observe, Orient, Decide, and Act). Once inside, we can control what they see and hear, what they think, what they decide, and what they do, all to our advantage.

If you look from "North" they appear to spin one way, from "South" they apparently spin the other. It is all about where you observe from if you think about it.

Maybe Gene Roddenberry had some inside information.
You know Shasta, he just might have!
The first season of Star Trek had the Enterprise go back in time to 1966 on Earth and be seen by the population.
Spock informed Kirk it was ok because this era had many UFO sightings that were explained away as swamp gas, weather balloons or temperature inversions.
Turns out Gene would know.
Having been born in 1921, he was 26 in 1947, the year the newspapers exploded with daily headlines about Flying Discs for months, and culminated with them being explained away as weather balloons. The other explanations were floated in 1952 and 1966 respectively.
During WWII he was a B-17 pilot, and after the war was a PanAm pilot - during 1947.
He obviously was exposed to the information and would of course paid attention to pilot reports in the newspapers, several of them having gotten close up views of the craft.

Captain E.J. Smith Shows Stewardess Toni Carter What He Saw
So having Bomber pilot friends and civilian pilot friends would have given him inside access to pilot sightings never released to the public.
He could have developed contacts through that network.
I love this thread :)
Quick question, has there been any observation of Anti-Matter Black Holes ?
**EDIT - I cant find the page where I had posted about the US Warship Collisions on Peg, and the below kinda hijacks this thread, would it be possible for a kind admin to move the below to the other thread please if someone doesn't mind doing that ? - thnx Fans' **
Slightly off-topic and I know I have posted something like this else where on Peg, but I see a a Norwegian warship had a coming together with a oil tanker last week -
https://www.defensenews.com/naval/2018/11/08/norwegian-warship-collides-with-oil-tanker-on-way-home-from-nato-exercise/
Which reminded me about the US warships that had similar events in the South China Sea that is being contested by the US & China, and made me think once again that the computerised navigation systems had been hacked and remotely controlled by entities unknown - I don't have any proof and the Norway event is reported that the tanker hit the docked the warship.
