Title: New combinations of molecules deep in the periodic table.
Post by: WhatTheHey on January 28, 2019, 12:35:56 AM
:)   If this proves to be a workable system for making new molecules, it could change much for human kind. Thinking of the medical applications it looks to have

endless possibilities.  Applying this to different types of molecules to make them better, stronger, more resilient.  Who knows what this

could change for us.   New materials for construction in many areas that could grant us access to places we cant go to now.  Maybe even materials lite enough and

strong enough to help take us to new worlds.

Makes me think of the Six Million Dollar Man.  Probably a lot more expensive to try to do anything with those molecules.  It does make me wonder how many more molecules my be discovered off world.

:)   Yes indeed it brings many things to mind.  Great and tremendous possibilities.  8)  With new knowledge that may be gained along the way, we may learn affordable ways to use this tech too.   8)

Think about graphene and carbon nano tubes; graphene comes close to being a 2d molecule but has the propensity to be 200 times stronger than titanium...

also makes one think of Mr Scott's transparent aluminum from Star Trek IV...

There is so much to be researched and experimented with, yet we haven't scratched the surface...

Have to agree and say this is really a step the right way.  Hopefully this will be utilized in a good way if it pans out.   8)

Transparent aluminum would be interesting for the people living in glass houses.  They could get smacked in the face by the stones they throw.

:)  It's good for holding "whales" too!  ;D  Along with the "water" even! ;D  How soon can we get this? Soon! We hope!  ;)  lol

My granddaughter was talking about humpback whales last year when I was staying at my daughter's house.  I  put on Star Trek IV.  She thought I might be crazy.  I enjoyed the movie.  I grew up with Star Trek.
