I am with you to a point, otter, for the sound card has fried on my laptop so I really don't have a clue what they are doing or why...
it is so much better to have a written synopsis for a video (unless of course it is a music video) since it is a proven fact that most people will read a 2 or 3 paragraph summation multiple times whereas they might not watch a video completely one time...
Greetings! This is a very interesting experiment. With this speed of visual perception we can study the diffusion patterns of light. Remember light is just another form of radiation. With the knowledge we can attain from a study of this sort, it may be possible to find new ways of blocking radiation emissions. Thus granting better protection to our astronauts and craft as well as safer working conditions and alike. Say for instance, a liquid barrier could be used between an inner and outer wall of a craft or containment structure. Creating an effective barrier by diffusion without the inherent problems of radiation accumulation, temperature increase and retention that come with most solid materials.
I wonder what may be altered by electrically charging the water in the bottle. I'm curios if this would have an affect on the diffusion pattern. Perhaps creating a stronger, faster and more complete diffusing interaction. Many additives come to mind. Chemicals and/or minerals that could be added to a liquid base to increase the process of diffusion. It could be something as simple as a high particle count of a certain type, in the liquid used may add to the diffusion process and make an effective barrier, while maintaining temperature control. Very interesting and could prove quite useful in ways we can't yet imagine. 8)
Oh well just shooting from the hip. ;) Cool stuff.

i can understand that they are filming the speed of light in slow mo.
.but i have no idea what the point of it is..
well maybe just to say they can
maybe to proof they can film the speed of light.
? ? ? ?
the just reading WTH's post.. i'm back to thinking
I know Nothin....hahahahaha
side note.. i have a thing about wearing a lab coat outside and then coming into a lab..guess it is only to protect the weaver..never mind
hey 51 get your butt back here and straighten this out, will ya
and it's the 4th of july and we have a red tomato...doin the garden dance....wish i could still post pics to prove it :P

I also read WTH's post, and it does help tremendously (it would help even more if I could get my pc fixed ::) )

Yeah, I always thought one of the purposes of the lab coat was to protect your clothing from lab contamination and the lab from outside contamination from your clothing...

I would never do something to make you feel like that! :) You and indeed most all of Peggy's members seem to be above average in ability to understand things. ;)

I actually didn't read yours or Seekers replies before I posted my
first reply. I just watched the video and shot up a quick one.

Your absolutely right about entering a lab already wearing a coat if said lab is working with something sensitive to gasses or an experiment with DNA, then something brought in by the wearer could easily askew the results.
Thanks! ;)

Well not much I can do to straighten this out, but I did show this video to a friend who is an expert on light and photons.
His take on it it had a lot to do with dispersion of light and how it behaves, which dovetails with WTHs comments on how would different mediums other than water disperse light.
Working some with lasers I do know that for an effective light show you need a medium such as fog machines to display the laser beams to an audience.
Without said medium all you will see is a red dot on the screen where it is pointed and not the beam.
My primary interest in the video was being able to see in slow motion the fastest thing know to us, that being the speed of light.
The thing that struck me was how similar it appeared to footage from Area 51 when examining it frame by frame.
Since our primitive cameras filmed at 30 fps, the motion of the craft appeared very jumpy from frame to frame.
The solution I came up with was to use a merge transition between frames, and the result was very similar to what we see in this video.
A merge transition causes frame 1 to start fading out while at the same time frame 2 starts fading in.
The OP video has the same effect with no transition between frames.
I mentioned this to my friend and thats where the subject of light dispersion came in.
Very interesting.

From what I think I understand of it, even just making the light go trough water makes it go slower and creates some dispersion. Speed of light in water is "only" 225,563 km/s instead of the famous (almost) 300,000 km/s in vacuum.

I noticed the "jumps" too, I think they used a similar method to get a more fluid movement.

Yes indeed it does, that's what we see in the video. The light diffusion as it is refracted through the water molecules causing illumination. This is what allows us to actually see the light in this experiment. The spreading out of the light through the water.
This is also what I was talking about increasing, by using additives and/or a different liquid base in order to create a barrier.
:) Cool stuff ey!

Sounds like a possible explanation for chemtrails. ???
If the combination of these things in the air are conductive at some level of concentration, I wonder if we're about to light up the atmosphere like a florescent or neon light. Like now all we need is a strong enough solar emission and poof! We're a beacon for planetary navigation, our planet lit up like a lighthouse for the solar system.
You can imagine what would happen to us. :o
