Hurricane Barry! Prepare for a MAJOR Disaster Louisiana & Gulf Coast!

Murphy's Law says if this is going to rapidly intensify (and it will)
it will happen when you are asleep. This thing still has 3 days over hot
gulf of mexico waters with almost no wind shear. you'd better have a plan
and be ready if you are in the brunt of the storm.
God bless everyone,

In its 10 a.m. update The National Hurricane Center upgraded the system to Tropical Storm Barry,
but it will likely strengthen to a Cat. 1 hurricane by the time it makes landfall.
The Louisiana coast is the primary target.

Ok guys, I live in Plaquemines Parish, Belle Chasse to be precise.
This Tropical storm is not a MAJOR Disaster as the thread title predicts.
Tropical storms dump rain and that is the major concern when it makes land fall.
But we've had these before and the only reason this one is of concern is that the Mississippi River is high at this time.
Some of the levees south of Belle Chasse have had a lot of water and are soaked and there WAS a danger of overtopping.
That has passed as Barry is moving more west and will probably make landfall somewhere between Morgan City and my home town of New Iberia.
Then move up towards Baton Rouge. As with all storms of this nature, the worse side to be on is the East side as that pushes water and wind.
While this is no where near a MAJOR DISASTER.. ::) as long as you are prepared, then you should be fine.
My son and his family live in Empire which is down the coast south of us. They have low lying areas that are prone to flooding on a normal heavy downpour.
They evacuated this morning and went to Mississippi.
So there are precautions being taken and having been through many of these, no one is taking it lightly.. But it's not as bad as being made out.
Of course we all say a little prayer for everyone concerned....

Dang, and they had brain slugs on Futurama, a cartoon, now they're real, and unfortunately much harder to get rid of. "The Futurama Encyclopedia. Brain slugs are an parasitic, invertebrate species native to the Brain Slug Planet. Brain slugs feed on cognitive energy in the form of the Alpha and Delta brainwaves. They attach themselves to their victims by using their adhesive slime to the scalp."
As some Dr.s would say, these things are all in your head.....................but these really are physically in your head! Ewwwww
That's enough to make you drink anything but water, or anything with water in it, unless you boil it first. Oh well, back the to the old days.
Boil your water! Best of luck and fast healing to any infected.
