For those that didn't know, this pass Monday Hurricane Ida crashed into south Louisana.
My home was to the right of the storm and it looked as though we would get some wind and rain. But it decided to take a big jog even more to the right and then stalled for about eight hours. Then it moved on.
Well my wife (who suffered a stroke the previous Monday) and I rode out the storm.
Thankfully we didn't suffer major damage like Katrina.
Well tonight we finally got or power back on a few hours ago.
But the rest of the parish didn't do so well. My son and his family evacuated to Florida and now they can reach their home because the only highway is still under water. Thankfully everyone is safe.
I want to thank all of you for your kind words and thoughts.

Sorry to read about your Wifes stroke Sgt.
Hope its not a severe one ! and she can make a recovery.
Losing power in your area and I assume Hospitals or medical treatment centres would add to your concerns.
Hurricane season back again along with other weird and wild weather occurring on planet Earth.
Seems you had a close call...and it must have been concerning if you lost electricity all week.
Hope that you dont have any other further follow up Hurricanes. which has seemed to often happen after initial ones.
Stay safe !
I hope everything is fine with your son and family.
Living in a country with a mild weather I can only imagine what a thing like that is like.
Wishes of a speedy and full recovery for you wife.
Thanks all.
My wife is fully functional just some weir memory lapses like forgetting what she was doing or remembering certain words. She does have some eye issues but unbekowned, to me, she's been dealing with for awhile. She does have veins taking up the work to help her function better. I can't think of the correct medical term right now, but she is doing a lot better. I just have to watch her better. Anyway thanks.
Hopefully that will be a big relief if your wife seems to continue to appear to be fullly functional.
Strokes can be very variable in how people get effected by them.. from Mild to severe symptoms.
and they can be difficult to accurately diagnose as to how serious that they maybe.
I knew of someone who had one and initially the medical assesors was not sure if they thought she had a stroke.
they did the initial FAST test which she seemed to pass...
then although she was taken into hospital... it took them a further 2 weeks or more before they eventually did a brain scan..in which they then found out that she had had one more serious than they had initially suspected.
whether or not things could had been different if she had been scanned earlier.. we will never know...
but she was delayed in being given suitable medications for over 2 weeks that may have made a difference
but later it became a concern that they had not done so on the 1st day.
She then had memory and speech problems...
and the whole thing became a nightmare.
Recognising a Stroke
Stroke occurs suddenly and usually without any warning. Common symptoms include weakness of the face on one side, difficulty with speech, or weakness in the arm, or arm and leg, on one side.
This is the basis of the FAST test:
Face weakness
Arm weakness
Speech disturbance
Time to dial 999
Wishing you and your family the best!
We are definately living through trying times

Thanks for the info...At the hospital they did as many test as they could/should do...MRI, Ultrasound of the heart and Carotid arteries and a CT scan...we were consulted by a neurologist and have an appointment with his office in Oct (the earliest we could get)...so we're pretty satisfied she was taken care of...
Once again Thanks...
Update: we finally got power back and enjoying the AC.. but a lot of south Louisiana folks are still suffering. My son and his family live down the road in Buras and the road there is still impassable do to high water. So they can't check on their home and are lucky they got out and went to Florida before the storm hit.
They are doin ok at a hotel my son's company is paying for..Thank God....
