He 'quit money' and is still living a happy life
By TODAY staff

Author Mark Sundeen talks with TODAY.com's Dara Brown about his friend Daniel Suelo, a man who lives in Utah caves, forages for food and is the subject of his book "The Man Who Quit Money."
Daniel Suelo hasn't made a penny in 12 years. He hasn't spent a penny either.

Suelo is the subject of the book "The Man Who Quit Money," by Mark Sundeen. In 2000, Suelo had $30 to his name. He left the money in a phone booth and never looked back. Since then, Suelo has lived on public lands, foraging in dumpsters and canyons for food. He welcomes the generosity of others.

He doesn't pay taxes. Doesn't accept any form of government welfare. And appears relatively happy,

Sundeen, who talked to TODAY's Dara Brown about his book and Suelo on Wednesday, said he has known Suelo for about 20 years. When he heard of his friend's lifestyle choice, "I assumed he had gone crazy or had some kind of mental breakdown." But that is not the case, Sundeen discovered.

"He is not suggesting or encouraging that anyone else live like him," Sundeen told Brown. For Suelo, it is a spiritual journey.

I am reminded of your post where you mentioned sometimes you want to just kick the pets out.

Sometimes even the other pets want to kick them out too.

Hermits just say I am done with all you guys.

i 'm laughing cause i call myself a hermit
but recently it was pointed out to me that
i am just interoverted
hahahahahahahahahahahahah

i think that some of the points made about this guy also prove that we all counldn't just chalk it up and live in the woods...it's mentions that folks sometimes feed him and give him stuff
if we all went to the caves and woods who would give us stuff..lol

every journey no matter how much you try to not let it happen..you still accumulate stuff

;) life is too short to be serious..
