Rare baby white buffalo killed for its skin
8 hrs ago
A one-year-old, non-albino white buffalo, said to occur only once in 10 million births, has been killed and skinned by poachers in Hunt County, Texas.
The animal, named Lightning Medicine Cloud, was believed to be sacred by the local Lakota Native American community, and the crime is being investigated with help from the Department of Homeland Security and the National Indian Council.
The rare buffalo's shaken owner, who was out of town when the crime occurred, describe the animal as "the hope of all nations." In what may have been a related incident, the calf's mother was also found dead.

:(
:-X
That's very disturbing. The white buffalo has such a strong place in history, I don't know whether to think "stupidity" or "hate crime."

I am wondering why a stupid act by poachers eight years ago is supposed to have an effect now? Linda
Erm, ummm... Linda,
That was 8 hours ago, not years ago.
As the lady on saturdaty night live used to say... "ooooh..... never mind!"

Yes, this is a terrible thing, for the way moral people look at things. Just the fact that this animal is "sacred" to a group of humans makes this an off-the-charts act, regardless of the circumstances that caused this killing of this white buffalo. However, this should not be anything that requires the involvement of "Homeland Security". They need to stay out of states business! Texas has fine law enforcement, and is well able to take care of "business".
And I hope this "business" is taken care of quickly, and the perpetrators are apprehended, and taken to trial. However, more than likely the charges will be what is appropriate, by Texas law, for the unlawful killing of someone else's animals.
It will be interesting, if we are ever able to know, why this act took place. There are many potential reasons, including, the possible value of the skin for this sacred animal. Or possibly inter-tribal differences and/or retribution. And on, and on, and on.
*** Now, a little bit of FWIW - Hunt County Texas, where this white buffalo was born, and killed, is my birth place, and where I currently live. The small ranch where the white buffalo lived is only about ten minutes from where I now live, and we pass by there regularly, as it is on a major highway. The white buffalo has been a pretty big deal around here, since it was born last year. Indian Pow-Wows and tours, etc!
Small world, I guess!! ;D
Consider... It may have been a "ritual," much as 9/11 was a ritual, made to look like a mere poaching incident. With this buffalo being seen as "hope" and being sacred, the evil Ones would have an interest in a ritual elimination of "hope."
Truly, I think it fits Their MO.
