All that is necessary for evil to triumph,
is for good people to do nothing!
the red cross helped me twice!
both times they sent my husband home from overseas
during family emergencies.
To add additional info... I had a temp job a number of years ago working as the admin asst for the Las Vegas chapter of the MDA. You know, "Jerry's kids."
I was responsible for making up the deposits of the donations from the 2-4 weekly "fund-raising" events and no week went by that We did not see at LEAST $100,000 in donations. (This was 20 years ago!) Well, I got to discover that the office director was making $60,000 a year, the event coordinators (the ones who went out and ran the donation events) made $35,000 a year, and the lone client services rep made $24,000 a year.
One day I received a call from a guy who had been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. He was seeking help getting a pair of crutches. I put Him through to the client services rep. A while later, I asked Her if She had been able to help the poor guy.
"No," She responded. "We've already used up the $1,000 We got for the year to help clients."
Needless to say, I could see things just didn't add up. I was aghast.

Not saying They don't help anyOne. Just that most donations of money go to help the administrators.
Thanks for this valuable info. I've been bled dry of donation funds by our gubbment. I can donate a goat come next breeding season. Wonder what one of those high paid CEO's would say should I offer one.....I am thinking about sending one to the IRS this year. COD of course. ;D

Heh. Wish I had a goat. This economy has left Me jobless, virtually homeless (sleeping in a corner on the floor of a friend who took pity on Me), and literally penniless. But I am out to end the NEED for money. And I will succeed. [smile]
