hope you had fun with a small sampling of my plants
I am SOOO envious! Between a black thumb, and living on the floor in a friend's apartment, there is nowhere like this I could cultivate.
Oh NOOO! I'm turning GREEN! (Except My thumbs...)
Living in the upper desert we might get shade.... but we don't get green like this and I miss it so... Thank you for that treat.... I think that you have helped all of us... Linda
Well Linda, Sky says her location is "under a tree" to start with! So, I guess she has a little advantage to some. :D But, If you really wanted to, there are several ways to do small garden stuf, including hanging baskets, pots, as with some of sky's strawberries, and with raised filled in very small garden areas. Assuming you can water, many garden plants do need full sun, which you must have plenty of. Don't know about "hot" tolerance of plants! Of course Linda, you probably know more about gardening than (wouldn't take much lol)
I had a neighbor once that had a small raised garden, inside cross-ties, maybe 8ft x8ft, or 10ft x 10ft. I could not believe how much fresh food came out of such a small place. He made much more than they could eat, and gave the excess to neighbors and friends - onions, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, various peppers, etc.
Sky, thanks for the pics, fresh is always best, especially when it comes to berries. I love most all types, especially strawberries and blackberries. It is sad that it is so hard to find the really naturally sweet strawberries in the grocery stores now. Most of the commercial strawberries have been modified through "plant control" into mostly tasteless giants (tasteless as cmpared to the original small sweets).
Now Sky, if you have any good recipes for for us, out of your garden, or whereever, then you can post them for us in the "Food and Drink "board too!! ;)
Sky,
Your garden is beautiful! I can see that you
have many hours of enjoyment. Gardening
can be hard work, yet I find it worth it especially
when its time to cook and eat!
Taking pics is a great idea, I started doing this
as a means of inspiration. Its hard to remember
just how beautiful things can be in the middle of
winter! :)
eek that is beaUtiful! i have the location for gardens like that but not the health to plant and maintain them. i don't mind though cause i'm in florida and in the middle of the winter, i can eat oranges and tangerines, lemons, key limes and strawberries, and there are flowering trees and the grass is green, and the birds tweet etc la la la. :D
p.s. organically grown rhubarb is the yummy. so are wild raspberries.
