Title: Genetics Indicates Extraterrestrial Origins for Life
Post by: Pimander on June 29, 2012, 08:12:21 PM

I promised in another thread to present some strong evidence that life did not evolve on Earth.  I don't have hours to go into massive detail so I will start with a short thread.  I will follow up with more information assuming there is any interest.

The "First Gene" Originated 10 to 14 Billion Years Ago

An investigation (see link below for methods) which used four separate analyses to calculate the age of the first gene came up with the figure 10 to 14 billion years ago.  So what?  Well, a big what!  Read on.

The Earth is thought to be roughly 4.6 billion years old.  That would place the first gene as originating at least 5 billion years before this planet existed!  So it is entirely possible that we are indeed from another world.

For those of you with an interest in the science behind this:
QuoteTo arrive at an estimate for the time frame in which the first gene was fashioned, genetic analysis based on the genetic merger and deep roots models and at different ages for the establishment of life on Earth, were carried out. The correspondence between total gene numbers of various organisms and time of their putative origin over the course of evolutionary history was analysed. Be it the merger or deep roots model, and within the experimental uncertainties in the relevant data, four separate analyses indicates that the origins of the first gene extends backwards in time by an estimated 10 to 14 billion years (10.5<14.5 bya) and thus during a time frame which overlaps and is consistent with estimated ages offered in support of the Big Bang model of the origin of this universe. This does not mean that life began 10-14 billion years ago, but rather that the first gene was fashioned billions of years before the creation of Earth.

I frankly don't understand why the concept of " trasspermia" is so " alien"  ;) to so many here.

Its one of the few things that makes total sense.

And saying that " junk" DNA is " alien" begs a few questions......

If they don't know enough about what it is to label the " leftover" that theydon't understand..... JUNK.... then perhaps those researchers are missing the boat in the first place?????

And in what context is the word " alien" used????

Should I ask for papers?????

Or should I take the English word to mean strange and unknown to us?????

Life on Earth
Came From Other Planets
by Rhawn Joseph, Ph.D.*
Emeritus, Brain Research Laboratory, Northern California

ABSTRACT
A comprehensive theory based on a review of scientific findings published in prestigious scientific journals, is presented to explain how life on Earth came from other planets. Life appeared a few hundred million years after the Earth's creation during a period of heavy bombardment. Life on Mars may have appeared near the same time. Microbes are adapted for surviving the hazards of space, including ejection from and landing upon a planet. Microbial fossils have been discovered in fifteen carbonaceous chondrites, most impacted by supernova. The Sun and Earth were created from a nebular cloud and protoplanetary disc, the remnants of an exploding star and its planets which may have harbored life. When the parent star became a red giant, its solar winds blew away planetary atmospheres along with airborne microbes, which were deposited in a growing nebular cloud. Because the red giant lost 40% to 80% of its mass and its gravitational influences were reduced, its planets increased orbital distances or were ejected prior to supernova and may not have been atomized. The inner layers of a nebular cloud and protoplanetary disk protects against radiation and extreme cold enabling spores to survive. Microbes may have also survived within planetary debris which bombarded the Earth. As only life can produce life, then life on Earth also came from life which may have originated on planets which orbited the parent star.

Key Words: Panspermia; Origin of life; Abiogenesis, Supernova; Meteors, microfossils

some interesting stuff here..i have to go back and spend some time
they are also talking of virus from space..and just today i was reading about sound vibrations to kill viruses...
i'll see if i cna find that
..can't  find it  ..but i do know the idea has been around a while

meanwhile i did find this

.Caveman Bones, 7,000 Years Old, Said To Yield Oldest DNA Of Modern Humans
Posted: 06/29/2012 8:27 am Updated: 06/29/2012 8:27 am

What may be the oldest fragments of the modern human genome found yet have now been revealed — DNA from the 7,000-year-old bones of two cavemen unearthed in Spain, researchers say.

These findings suggest the cavemen there were not the ancestors of the people found in the region today, investigators added.

Scientists have recently sequenced the genomes of our closest extinct relatives, the Neanderthals and the Denisovans. When it came to our lineage, the oldest modern human genomes recovered yet came from Ötzi the Iceman, a 5,300-year-old mummy found in the Alps in 1991. Researchers have salvaged DNA from even older human cells, but this comes from the mitochondria that generate energy for our bodies, and not from the nucleus where our chromosomes are housed. (Mitochondrial DNA is passed down only by mothers.)

Now researchers have rescued fragments of genomes from the remains of two cavemen unearthed in northern Spain.
