Title: Bhut Jolokia
Post by: TheJanitor on September 16, 2012, 09:59:08 AM
Can't sleep tonight because of the heartburn. Billed as the hottest peppers on Earth. Had two.

I'm a serious chili-head.  Love my chilis, love the heat.  Chilis find their way into at least 1 meal a day.  Hot sauce is right next to the salt and pepper.  Habaneros are my go-to pepper. (In moderation.)

At some point though, more is not better, it's just more.  A little heat adds a fun punch.  Too much through is not fun, it's distracting, it's now taking away from the dish rather than adding to it.

As a chili-head heat junkie....  Bhut Jolokia are too much.  The heat in those bad boys is military grade.  You can literally add 1/2 of one of those to a full cup of salsa and still have a scorching salsa.  The heat in them overpowers what flavor there may be.  Your taste buds are so overwhelmed flavor is forgotten.

Bhut Jolokia....   pass.

Wow, no wonder you have heart burn! I've yet to try the infamous Ghost Pepper, I'm curious, does it have flavor? Or is it too hot to notice... LOL?! My lifesaver is Prevacid!

My Habanero Chipotle sauce, with smoked carrots, garlic, and onions; very hot after about 3 seconds, unreal flavor!

I downed the last one today, the big one. Finished off the pack in two, three days, two peppers a day.

Well, I was doing fine, until that last one. You know, that one pepper in a hundred that's ten times hotter than any of the others? I have come across them numerous times, with jalapenos and habaneros. First time with the ghost pepper.

Didn't think I was going to make it. That really tired me out. Here's my secret:

If you don't have a banana, knock on someone's door and get one. One look at you and they will comprehend. Then if you can't walk, lie down. You'll feel the burn go away, and as it returns, sit up. The burn will go away again, then return. I keep repeating the ritual until the digestion process is finished.

And yes, they have great flavor. The burn doesn't really set in until they are in your tummy.

To add, it must have been really hot. Even 2 million is waay hot. That's the scorpion pepper.

Glutton for punishment, but I understand, I love the rush of the heat! Peppers are high in vitamin C too. I used to cut up a Habanero or Serrano pepper at work around 2pm instead of coffee, and it worked well, it forces you to drink more water which is good and fights fatigue.

I like to slice the peppers and have them with cheese. Sontova is a great hot sauce, it comes in XX and XXX:

Oh, I got booster power, but its not from hot peppers...phytoplanktons. I get full digestion, at least 10% more than anyone else on this forum, if no one else does phytoplanktons. Started them to correct DNA errors, now I am a walking colony.

The incentive to correct DNA errors was born out of a need to radiation harden my body from the friginshima plume of death. That and manganese, which fortifies my cell walls against radiation bombardment. Also the building materials for cell walls is helped with soy lecithin and orange flavored emulsified cod liver oil from Twin Labs.

It is very important in the course of radiation hardening to avoid any foods with hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils, including and not limited to cottonseed, canola, safflower, soy...

Also expect to take a long time doing it. Because it takes time to shed cells and replace them. However it will be worth your time to bless my name whilst people be dropping from thyroid cancers.

I eat Thai food as hot as They will make it...

For heartburn:  2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (Braggs or other non-pasteurized, organic is best) in 8 oz water.  Drink it down and heartburn is gone.

I find it quite amusing that an acid is alkalinizing in the body.  But ACV is one of the best alkalinizing food-stuff available.  Along with avocado.

I eat LOTS of garlic and onions.  I had the opportunity to use one of those footbaths that are supposed to draw toxins out of the system - most People wind up with black water by the end of the process.  EveryOne was amazed at the fact that the water in My baths turned slightly pink but mostly clear.  (The pink was an indication of some tobacco - which I smoke but do not inhale...)

Eat those things to detoxify the system, I tell You what!  LOL!

LOL... Yes I do... I smoke half the carrots, onion, and garlic over damp mesquite chips on the grill, so technically I'm grilling them and smoking them. ACV shots are great for heartburn and losing weight; however, I drink coffee mightily which seems to cancel out the ACV, Prevacid allows me to be a hedonist, LOL! I like Braggs, great stuff, my ex and our friends from Ohio like vinegar on their french fries, actually it's kind of good.

I drink coffee...  But rarely have heartburn.  Seems when I switched from pasteurized milk cheeses to raw milk cheese both My heartburn issues dissipated, as well as a good reduction in My rheumatological issues.

On the rare occasion I do get the HB, the ACV does the trick!

Traditional English "fish and chips" is eaten with salt and vinegar.  the bottle in the corner is the vinegar bottle which any traditional English Cafe will have on the table.

I noticed this too when I went on a 40 day juice fast, I was nutty with all sorts of discipline, dropped 28 pounds and reduced the cholesterol by 37 points! I never felt better, however, I was craving meat; looking over at my dog I started to visualize her as a floating plate of enchiladas, shimmering alongside some fajitas and avocado piled with cheese... LOL, now I'm hungry! No dairy, no greasy fats, no heartburn, and way less allergies. Thanks for reminding me! ACV is good, the stomach likes it, seems to prevent it from over producing more acid.

I have a rather high fat diet - but its olive oil, sesame oil, avocado oil, sunflower oil, hemp oil...  Not butter, meat fat, hydrogenated oils, and such.  Works well and the brain loves it.

Very true Amaterasu! After reading a book by Norman Doidge called the Brain that Changes Itself, I researched various brain foods which include the groups you list. I ate a diet like a Kodiak bear for a few weeks and felt amazing. Almonds, blueberries, dark green leafy stuff; thanks for reminding me! My dietary pendulum needs swing back in that direction :)
