Title: those achie joints
Post by: sky otter on November 03, 2011, 11:55:09 PM
well i didn't want to go off topic yet again by addressing this in the other thread

Actually they are all cramped right now   too much typing and manual labor... the old joints ain't what they used to be

and i don't see a place for health stuff or anywhere other than here that this would fit

sooooooooooo
let me start off by saying that i am not in any way shape or form giving medical advice here...
don't want to be carted to the slammer for practicing without a license

but i would like to share some things that i do know to work for me and a few others...
which doesn't mean it would work for you..but if you would like to quack yourself
let me share some ideas

i also have some older joints that for many reasons need a little help here's are a few of the things i have tried and use

1.  apple cider vinegar
yeah sounds dumb but it rinses out bacteria that like to sit in joints
most recommendations i have read about are a teaspoon in some warm water
but try whatever feels right for you

2. i have a friend who takes glucosamine and swears by it

3. this is one i have used for pulled muscles as well as painful joints
works great for sprained ankles too..but only after day five after a course of hot and cold (ice)

it is the edgar cayce oil pack
>you saturate a cloth..perferrably white and better yet white wool
with some cold pressed castor oil
>find a comfy place to sit or recline for 10 minutes or more
>place the saturated cloth directly on the  joint or muscle
>place a piece of clear plastic wrap on top of that
>place a light weigh towel over it and then a heating pad or hot water bottle
on top of that...heatin pad to med but not higher
>sit back and enjoy..meditate..read...doze..just stop for a bit

the cloth with the oil can be reused by placing it into a zip lock plastic bag
to get the gooey oil off of you..vinegar, hot soap and water.

here's where i order mine from if you are interested..best price i've found and
excellent quality on all their stuff..you can lso get it at most helath stores but
make sure it is cold pressed

:)I use glucosamine,I was hit by a car while on my bicycle and trashed my knee.Until I found glucosamine I was a limpin' MFer

I have found that the sulfate version is best , the HCL version did little or nothing for me ,also take vitamin "c" and fish oil, helps the glucosamine work better.

Hoss
really give the oil pak a try..you're worth a 30 minute session, aren't ya...

the glousamine is a good product but it can be enhanced with the oil pak
and if you can get to a health food store the cold pressed castor oil ususally
has the instructions right on the bottle
(the one i buy on line does)

get yourself a nice beverage and a comfy seat
then put your leg up and proceed to do the oil and heat..

if you feel you want to  experiment
add this to the oil treatment time
take three deep breaths and ask for whatever color is needed to heal the knee
then sit back and rest for a bit

the worst case is you get 30 minutes of down time from the world
best case..i'm sure you can figure that part out

if you try it..please let me know what you thought of it....
i use it on my hubby when he messes his back up..it works

:)

Thanks for the info, otter!

Isn't it sad that One cannot recommend natural, organic, non-toxic solutions without the fear of being accused of "giving medical advice" without a license???

What a sick world We live in.  I wonder what I can prescribe to the world...  Oh, yeah.  Electrogravitics!  LOL!

Ooops!  I'm practicing medicine on the world without a license!

When vets start prescribing glucosamine for aging doggies you know the stuff works. My oldest Yorkie couldn't get from point a to point b without it.....with it he acts and plays like a pup. The thing about that is that no " sugar pill" fix-all works for dogs. They live in the moment..... not in their heads.... sometimes a very good thing to learn!   Linda

I like this thread!  The apple cider vinegar that was mentioned also provides vitamin c, which helps collagen production.  Collagen is a building block of connective tissues like cartilage.  I haven't had a lot of success with glucosamine, but I don't think I've tried the sulfate variety.  It may have better bioavailability.  I've been using valerian latelty.   It  seems like it's settling some of the muscle spasms.  It can have a mild sedative effect, so bear that in mind if you decide to try it.

Hi Shasta
nice to meet ya here

if you are having muscle cramping try some tonic water ..you can get it in most
grocery storres in the soda section or bar supplies ...
it has quinine and works wonders..it's a cheap fix

and on the vit C..get the ones that have bioflavanoids..that is the ingredient
found in the white part under the peel  and are most beneficial

I swear by the sufate type of glucosamine. I started out with the cheap stuff from the drugstore but the effect  leveled off right away. So I switched to the sulfate after some research. I get mine from GNC store. You are right about vitamin C , that and fish oil all combine for a good result.

Hey otterpop,
Nice to meet you too.  I miss the days when quinine tablets were available at the pharmacy.  At this point, I think I'll stick with my robaxin plus a calcium magnesium supplement.

Hi! I must recommend to you a Primal- diet, if your stomach is up to eating raw meat(beef mostly). As I lift heavy weights, I used to have these joint pains in my shoulder area especially, but since i started to do the diet, all the pain is gone!

At least read an article about Primal-diet. There is some books written by Aajonus Vonderplaniz, and he is a guy who survived a death sentence with this diet. I have never felt more vital. Uncooked food mostly.
since I read hes studies of food, I came to conclusion, that cooking method was brought to human by some evil alien species to slowly kill us, because when you warm nearly any nutritions over 36 celcius, things in them turn unhealthy and even toxic to human body. Anyway he's life story was very interesting read!

I wish you all good!  :)

try raw beef, raw pineapple and raw fat( you get that also in a beef ). And avoid processed food as much as possible, especially anythng green and red. All the reds and greens will be easy to eat raw.
Any food when heated more than 36 degrees celsius will be spoiled( it kills nutritions and mutates many things in food)

Raw fat you can either ask from a farm somewhere or there is raw coconut fat and even in a raw egg theres the right kind of fat. And nuts.

If you are hurting badly, it should ease your pain in one or two weeks. Worthy to try and if you take it as a habit, you will be amazed how it effects your overall health  ;)

As a native of So. Cal., avocado is a MUST in My diet.  And I adore tomatoes.  I hear onion has healthy aspects, too.

Good to know that sourdough is cool.

great advice, WW and I see you are a true healthy guy!
It's florida avocado for me today, on toasted rye with garlic aioli.
Avocados rule! An onion a day, and more garlic than that!
And carpacchio, or tartar, is the only way I eat beef, raw and wonderful!!!

Thanks for all the ideas,  at this time I am not having problems,  but I have had in the past.

At one time I couldn't raise my arm up to brush my hair without my shoulder giving me great pain,  then years later I had an injury that caused alot of knee pain.

It was the glucosimine (lol,  can't spell it and neither can spellcheck!) from GNC that "cured" me both times,  It can take about a month,  but the results are spectacular.

I will try the Castor Oil, Vitamin C and fish oil next time!

Hi Luci

glad to hear you are in good shape..
your comment on the shoulder made me think of something that might help someone else
hubby was thinking he had rotor cup problems
but what he was doing was sleeping with his are above his head and under his head..
changing this sleeping posture  cured him

there are a lot of things we do to ourselves without realizing ..so that often observation of our own habits its good..all kinds of thing we can fix on our own

Thanks for your concern, Sky, and yes I do know where my food comes from, especially the raw meat.
I have actually picked my cow for slaughter, before, and had a big party once with all of the fixins, trying to use all of the animal. After dinner the leather guy took the hide away for tanning, and I have a beautiful belt and shoes now in honor of my beefy buddy!LOL!
There is a free range, wild grass fed, private cattle farm by us, near Arcadia, and they sell me what I call Green Beef, and that's fed with no hormones, or antibiotics, and  some of it's sold to Publix for their Greenwise markets. I get it twice weekly, and have it vacuum packed when it's butchered to seal bad stuff out. Then I airdry it for an hour, slice it so thinly you can see through it, then marinate it quickly, and voila, tartar!
You are right about raw being chancy, but if the right precautions are taken, there's nothing like a tartar of freshly butchered ribeye for real beef flavor.
I eat 4 oz at a time, and no more than one pound a week, mixed with my predominantly organic diet, and heavy on the veg!
Funny, to be talking like this, as you may or may not know, I became enlightened in December, and used to eat the crappiest diet, with NOTHING healthy(except beer)
Now, I have no desire for any of the old food, and dont know what to make of that.
I guess it's for the better, seeing how Ive lost forty pounds since then!
Cheers!

I am vegetarian mainly because I can't get beef like that.  So...  When are You going to invite Me for dinner?  [grin]

(I eat venison on the rare occasion I have the opportunity - it is freshly killed, lived out its life eating what nature intended, and "slaughtered" cleanly...)

Your tartar awaits, sweet Amaterasu, and we'll even have a bit of free range veal, too! (Rosa farms inc. Arcadia, Florida) for meat, and (Worden farms of Punta Gorda for my veg!)
I, too love venison, but the killing part keeps me from enjoying it much.
So if I cant stomach shooting something, I buy it instead!
I have looked high and low for reasonably priced private farm beef, and finally got to go to the source. They have a small store on site that butchers and wraps the meat for pickup, but it's not public. I met the owner last month at a restaurant
nearby and he invited me to visit. Im glad I did!
Keep healthy, Amaterasu, and if youre in the tampa area, get set for some raw fun!

Florida's not for everyone, and some visit here and see the dark side(pills, criminals, Miami)so I understand that, and there are a few places I wont go!LOL!
Im sorry to hear times are tough for you, and I will send you a special treat for the mind tonight to boost your spirits. Lotsa good karma comin your way!
It pains me to hear of a friend's difficulties in life, and I want to help so bad.

Just look for the dragon, and his band of gold around his neck, and he will show you the way.
I know I'm being metaphoric here, but It's about the only thing I'm good at.LOL!

Welcome, hoss!  I am nowhere near You.  [grin]

I'm replying just to offer the suggestion that You review the link in My sig.  I am trying to garner a million sigs to release electrogravitics from secrecy and would be honored if You consider signing it and then passing the link on to as many others as You can.

All help I get in this project is greatly appreciated.  [smile]

Here is what I use for ANYthing that hurts - pulled muscles, sprains, bruises.

You rub it on and it gets warm and relieves the pain, and amazingly your healing time is cut in 1/2.

Translation from chinese is - 'Fix Bone Water'

It was originally invented by a Kung Fu Master to promote the healing of broken bones of his students.

I swear by it and so do the countless number of people I have shared this with.

(My buddy from Hong Kong originally introduced me to this stuff.)
