Post by: Somamech on October 09, 2012, 04:16:06 PM
After a weather delay the other day along with another weather delay this morning it looks like the Balloon may launch.

You can watch it Live here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkJ5ItzEq3M

EDIT:

Redbull Stratos Mission (more info)

http://www.redbullstratos.com/

The live stream will work here in Peggy in the above youtube window, you will have to click play though which then ignites the mission live stream  ;D

Right... back to my full screen version :)

PS there are some interesting names to check out behind this mission of madness that may yield us some clues elsewhere... Gotta keep optimistic right that we will find the real spaceships ;)

Coo link Soma..thanks!

I read the website for Redbullstartos, and what jumped out at me about the mission was this...

QuoteThe Red Bull Stratos team brings together the world's leading minds in aerospace medicine, engineering, pressure suit development, capsule creation and balloon fabrication. It includes retired United States Air Force Colonel Joseph Kittinger, who holds three of the records Felix will strive to break.

Joe's record jump from 102,800 ft in 1960 was during a time when no one knew if a human could survive a jump from the edge of space. Joe was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and had already taken a balloon to 97,000 feet in Project ManHigh and survived a drogue mishap during a jump from 76,400 feet in Excelsior I. The Excelsior III mission was his 33rd parachute jump.
Why state that particular jump which wasnt even a problem?  :o :o :o :o

That 33..everywhere we look!LOL!

Cheers!

Gutted LE...  :(

In the meantime I came up with next years Freefall from a Balloon.  We strap a Redbull Rampage contestent into the Capsule... drop them off into space, then when they hit the dirt again they freeride down the slopes of Utah LOL

Sad, good or plain mad... i could see them freeriders trying that LOL  "Its a problem that needs solving" (In their mind)  LOL
