Title: The Rock is old!
Post by: Sgt.Rocknroll on October 17, 2012, 02:28:16 AM
Recently I went to my annual Cad conference at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Ms. I have been to these many times and the users put on presentations of how they use Cad and in particular Bentley Software. The officers have been asking me and my group to put on a presentation for twelve years but we've always decline for one reason or another. Well finally they talked me into it and I decided that I'd do something a little different. I discussed the 'Lost Art of Drafting'. You see every since the advent of Cad the techniques and artistry of drafting has slowly been slipping away. Most young people are now called Cad Operators and not Draftsmen. I started out spreadin' lead and enjoyed it very much. So much I made it my life's work. I didn't have a scripted presentation, I just got up and talked about the good ole' days. I was very surprise everyone loved it. Now they want me to do one every year...sheeshh...

So how do I see your work? I used to like drafting and changed to the fine arts. Now I'm curious about what cad can do.

Rock, besides all of the conference fun, did you win any $$$$$$.    (http://www.thelivingmoon.com/43ancients/04images/Bluebird/ilndksgc.gif)

For sure, the Beau Rivage is the nicest and most popular Casino Resort/Hotel on the Gulf Coast!

Welcome back, mate!

I guess i'm lucky, i took both art & geometrical drawing exams at school(drafting, in essence), i'm used to drawing in 3d,projection, exploded, section etc.
To my amazement there are very few people still taught this.
I would love to have seen that presentation too ;)

Stil hopeless with CAD, i use Paint most of the time, but it's like trying to paint a Constable by bashing 2 rocks together LOL....

See I was just the opposite. I wanted and started in fine arts, but decided I needed to pay the bills!.. 8)

Afraid not at my age 58, but the area I will be moving to is somewhat like Lake Trout.
