QuoteJapanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano confirmed on Saturday there has been an explosion and radiation leakage at Tokyo Electric Power Co's (TEPCO) (9501.T) Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

I can't confirm who this is reporting but I wonder how bad this is at Fukushima. Reactor building 4 was already a mess with a very large fuel pool.
I suspect it may be true... And if so... Goodbye northern hemisphere.
Cheerful, Amy, Cheerful!
Well let's try and get a little confirmation first shall we, before we write ourselves off?
It's bad enough that we are currently receiving 10x the Recommended Daily Allowance of background here in the UK. Is all I know..
FB!
Fruitbat, you are correct. Confirmation. We won't get it from Main Stream Media. I kind of rely on the independent radiation monitoring of the West Coast primarily as well as the rest of the USA.
Doesn't sound too good though :(
Like i said, lots of rich people emigrating to the south..
This would literally spread around the whole world in a week or so, happened with Chernobyl, and after the quake at Fukishima.
I heard a rumour that the Deepwater Horizon is still leaking oil...
I really hope we can manage to get off this planet before we kill it & ourselves, not to mention all life, for which we should be responsible.
Gets me mad sometimes >:(

"What do You mean, "WE," white man?" Most of Us Humans had no say in this. Many things have happened despite popular protest. In Japan, despite virtually all there not wanting it, They turned reactors back on.
I will not be lumped with the destroyers of Our planet.
Amy
Dont you think your last post was a bit harsh.
None here want the destruction of this world.
In our way everyone here is trying to change it for the better:)
Back
I don't know about this one.
My sources,if they are true, say it didn't happen.
The live gieger readings haven't changed.
We shall see.

Plus it's cool to see the tweets.
Oh,I almost forgot,The IAEA sent me this by request.
Compare notes and get back with me.
I have alot of notes to compare. :o

According to FruitBat, in the West Midlands, UK they are well above normal.
Preliminary readings indicate high atmospheric radiation levels in the West Midlands, UK (http://www.thelivingmoon.com/forum/index.php?topic=3020.0)
Yup, I am still getting 10x higher readings than is the RDA of ionising radiation.
The counter audibly beeps when the count rises over a preset level.
Which is far less intrusive than a clicking counter, but you notice when those beeps come faster...
MY overall measurements since february SUGGEST that I was getting 3-4x the RDA averaged out over that period. TEh short term readings I am taking at the moment indicate around 10x backgound. I'd tentatively suggets it increases in the evening.
I appreciate Kdogs efforts to establish whether we are all stuffed right now, and I'd suggest that this thread may have been spawned by a particularly scary Lie. I for one wil be glad if that is the case, but will not rest unitil they TURN THE DAMN THINGS OFF, AND START CLEARING UP THE MESS.
Thanks,fruitbat.
You are right.
Look at all the angles of the story, not that you would trust the IAEA,'cause I don't.
According to the header of the article it is originally from Reuters; has anyone checked to see if it was indeed posted there today, or old news from last year?

"They turned the reactors back on" Now I have heard and seen some foolish ridiculous crap in my life, but this is way up there with no brains in the bloody membrane.
Obviously they are totally insane, but then again with a country that continues to defy the laws of the ocean and sneaks behind people's back to destroy whales well I am sorry but they deserve everything they get; cuz I'm bloody sure Mr and Mrs Japan people go buy their bloody whale food.
So in this case you can all drown for being the disgusting non caring pigs you are. As in drown of the whole of Japan, probably karma as in Cayce's readings.
That country gets no bloody sympathy from me. Now they've done the unthinkable, their going to destroy the rest of the inhabitants of the world as well as the whales.

Get out of our waters you defiant arrogant pigs. Get out. Too bad they didnt sink the bloody ship.
YES - Don't kill the whale

I think we can all learn to live without sharks fin soup as well.
The Japanese know what most of the world's opinion is on whale hunting and killing, but do they stop.............oh hell no.
They even travel into other countries waters to hunt down and kill them.
I wouldnt muck around with the bastards. I would just give the order to bazooka the ships, hoping they would sink. Yes I would probably pick the darn sailors up. But the next Japanese whaling ship out that would be sunk too.
They can be one of the most arrogant bloody races in the world. Dont even get me started how they treated our pows. >:( While we treated theirs humanly.
Nah they can all sink. Nothing gets my goat more, they dont give a stuff what anyone thinks.
Well people. The original post was a little scary for me for a while there.
In fact, putting aside the japnes whaling problem for a moment I'd like to turn my attention (and a large handheld heavy implement with spikes or edges) to whoever carefully created that fake report.
You don't often see me make an angy post, but I've woken up pretty pi55ed today...
Still, at least after all, it's worth getting up and going to work today...

For what it's worth... The whaling is motivated by money... And We know My solution to THAT!
I guess the "Learning Curve" is about to steepen for us... :D

Looks as if your assumptions are Right PWM:
QuoteOn Thursday BP and the Coast Guard took a stealthy cruise in the Gulf of Mexico to look for oil leaking from the site of the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe. That's right, two and a half years after the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history, oil is still leaking near the infamous Macondo well. A miles-long oil sheen was spotted 50 miles off the Louisiana coast in September.
Dec. 14,2012 release:
Deepwater Horizon (http://oceana.org/en/blog/2012/12/oil-still-leaking-from-deepwater-horizon-site)
All this influence on our environment may be the demise of civilization as we know it. Though it may take time too reach this point, it will, none the less.
And "Yes Matrix" a 'Learning curve Indeed.' ;)

What made it the worst was the Corexit...
To be sure, earthquakes and such have surely caused oil to gush in the past - and the planet gets by. The poisons They sprayed to "fix" the problem ARE the problem.
Right Amy!
They used dispersants, which literally dispersed the oil, so it spread even further than it should have.
Also these dispersants cause the oil to sink, so that it reaches the floor of the ocean (where it normaly would not be) & destroys the ecosystem there.
Of course,it also had the (carefully planned IMO) effect that most of the oil slick was no longer visible on the suface, which was duly filmed by everyone...
Someone did a breakdown of Corexit (on YT i think) and it contains some really bad carcinogens & s**t...
I feel a rant coming on, so i will go calm myself with a cup of Earl Grey.
Later!
the only safe seafood is now from the northeast.
to think the kids born today will never get the chance to eat a gulf shrimp, butterflied and fried in batter.
breaks my heart.
bp didnt just affect the people on the coast.
i say we start our own class action.
i miss my shrimp.
