Title: Can anyone advise ... Problems seeing Videos on P.R.C
Post by: astr0144 on January 04, 2013, 04:07:04 AM
Can anyone advise me...

I just updated my adobe flash player and restarted my computer, as I was not able to watch videos being posted on the threads on PRC today...such as Youtube when viewing on firefox.

But I can see them when I use Internet Explorer...

My disc is almost full, so I am aware this could be a problem...

But it seems funny that I can see youtube videos on the likes of Alex Jones Channel..

Check and make sure you have enough physical memory (RAM) to run Flash + your other browser. IE may be using less RAM. Defrag your hard drive and clean up some room. Don't ever let it get below around 20% space left on the hard drive or it will start giving you greif.

i'm not very techy..so this may be something already known
i learn very slowly by screwing stuff up

and if you don't go to the adobe settings manager and set the paramitors
the dang thing can put all kinds of stuff on your computer for storage
click on each setting and do whatever works for you
hope this isn';t to simplictic for you guys
;D

Yes I have had problems, but it appears many YouTube Links have "malware" piggybacking them.

The issues appear to be with Google.

Usually these issues cause the Computer to lock up.

On restarting I find such malware has been Quarantined, and shows in my Security Logs.

Sometimes malware does manage to cause minor damage, which so far I have managed to repair each time.

If it causes too much hassle, I simply Format and reinstall Windows, and my software etc.

So all this does, is waist a lot of time.   >:(

The bulk of my work is Not kept on the computer I use on the Net. So not a problem.

I am seriously considering Linux, even though there is a bit of work involved in setting up.

yeah the issue is with Firefox updates and their plugin container.  Adobe flash player messes with firefox. I had the same issue after the last upgrade and I fixed it by loading an older version of firefox and turning off auto updates. It seems that with every upgrade the firefox/adobe flash player just eats up memory like a hog.

That causes slowdowns and failure to load and will run your processor at 100% which in turn locks up the computer

I had all kinds of problems with I.E. and Firefox well forget that. I switched over to Google Chrome and I haven't had any problems at all.

Firefox and Flash do not like each other. Besides that, Firefox acts as if it has a memory leak, as it consumes much more memory than all other browsers.

I haven't had any problems with malware coming from YouTube videos, but Flash is one of the ways used to distributed malware and attack computers.

For those that like Chrome and don't like Google's idea of knowing everything you do on the Internet, you can use SRWare's Iron or Comodo's Dragon, both based on the same code as Chrome.

I was using Firefox before, but couldn't use My Google blog site unless I adopted Chrome. (It was Google who stated I could not make use of all the features in my blog, unless I changed to Chrome)

It's only since I changed to Chrome I have had these Issues.

Firefox had its issues too, but didn't use to lock up.

Hi Zorgon,

That may be the answer to my problem with Firefox...

I wasn't aware of the things that you have indicated.

I will try it..

Thanks for the other comments made as well...
that is something else to consider.

Cheers

i wish we had a direct 3gp link that wasnt youtube.
some mobiles wont allow youtube unless its wifi.

i saw the other day on charlie rose that 84% of chinese get their news from mobile.
i think prc should be built around a mobile format.
this would mean faster page downloads for you big computer guys while making the market for prc more appatizing.
most of us will be on mobiles eventually.
