Title: Question For All About Smartphones
Post by: VillageIdiot on March 25, 2013, 12:54:20 PM
My phone contract is about to come up and I need a new phone. I have an Android now but I'm strongly considering switching to an iPhone.

What are your opinions about Androids and iPhones?

Which phone do you think would be a better choice?

Thanks for all replies.

My opinion is buy a netbook and a cheap and simple phone.

A netbook (or even cheap notebook) is your own and does everything a smartphone does but better and is cheaper than an iphone.  Touchscreens suck for typing text messages too.  A cheap phone with a keypad that makes calls and texts with a notebook or netbook is cheaper than the iphone.  A netbook is a better computer than an iphone and a cheap phone is just as good a phone.

I would go that route but I need portability. I surf in limited spaces and I'm always on the move. I like to just throw it in my pocket.

There was a period of adjustment to working with a very small device but I've mastered it. Honestly, I'm loathe to change phones. I'm rather attached to this one. It's only got two bugs that I'm aware of.

I'd go for an android then.  I only say that because it is based on linux which I like. I've heard the hardware is better with apple than samsung but that might be BS.:)

Do you know if Apple has solved the antenna problem?

No idea.  Apparently is is the battery that is the problem.

QuoteiPhone 4S fixes Apple antenna issues, says Consumer Reports

The iPhone 4S may have battery issues, but its antenna works just fine.

Consumer Reports Tuesday officially recommended the iPhone 4S (See Network World's "First Look: iPhone 4S") to its readers and noted that Apple had fixed the antenna issues that had plagued its previous model, the iPhone 4. Last year Consumer Reports caused a stir when it said that it could not recommend the iPhone 4 due to its well-publicized design flaws where users would find their reception cut off if they gripped the device on its lower left-hand side.

I use an Iphone. I've had one for some time now. I never had a problem with the 4 or 4S. I now use an Iphone 5 and I love it. I also have a Chrome app that mimics my laptop desktop, so I have access to my bookmarks, contacts etc. I love it.
