Just a heads up. Things couldn't be more grim.

Shane Smith on Fukushima, completely iradiated massive coverup, reactors melting into the ground

QuoteGo to 50:30 minutes and listen until he stops talking about Japan and radiation. Apparently he says alcohol helps fight against radiation poisoning. Says its an Urban Legend.

He said the reactors are melting into the ground and the water. WTF? He said there is major cities of 500,000+ completely irradiated. Heh. He says an area in Ukraine an area the size of France is still completely irradiated. Is Japan screwed right now? That area in the ocean is that # now?

Is Fukushima's reactors actually melting into the ground wtf?

Omg, this news source is incredible. Why aren't you guys paying attention to this?

ATS YOUR SLEEPING WAKE UP, THESE GUYS HAVE A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW FROM THE ACTUAL SOURCES AND SEEM TO BE TELLING THE TRUTH, VERIFY THIS PUBLICATIONS VALIDITY AND DEBUNK IT OR NOT.

You bring up a great point--we're being screwed by the fools in charge, lied to and treated like cattle, so...where's the news in this? Kidding. Thor is all over this and we've been enlightened somewhat as to the seriousness. Since no one in power is fessing up to how serious exactly, it is mostly up to outside investigators putting the pieces together.

The best we can do is stay informed, so...thank you for that.

Peace and Love and gold for your effort.

Yeah I think we knew that they were in meltdown about day 2 when we were live at ATS

There was one video It was a news film taken at Toronto airport by CBC. In the original video the fellow they interviewed getting off the plane (he was a foreign tech at Building 1) describes the huge bang and cracking sound right after the EQ hit... before the Tsunami

That video is still available on YT (I posted it somewhere here) but they edited out one part. He told reporters that when the crack happened all the gauges went wild and they knew they had to get out, but TEPCO bosses locked them in. Told them they needed to get radiation checks first.  The workers said screw that and broke down the door and headed for the cars... got out before the Tsunami hit.

I was sure I saved the original video... but that was a hecktic three months day and night. A few others in that thread remeber that but now the locking in part is editted out.

But it still has the part where they knew from day one that building #1 reactor was damaged beyond any hope of repair or containment

ETA

Here is the video from CBC  I will go through my files see if I have the original. But he still says the CORE was exposed 4 feet and they lost cooling  BEFORE the Tsunami hit because he was outside to see one of his bossed get in the car and out of the lot before the first wave took out the cars

well you don't even have to be into conspiracys for this.. it's been all over the news for days
but i think most folks are so individually stressed out they aren't even hearing it
the stress and sadness in the air are very heavy lately

Nuclear Plant Leaking Contaminated Water In Japan
By MARI YAMAGUCHI 04/06/13 07:21 AM ET EDT

TOKYO -- The operator of Japan's crippled nuclear plant said Saturday that it was moving tons of highly radioactive water from a temporary storage tank to another after detecting signs of leakage, in a blow to the plant's struggles with tight storage space.

Tokyo Electric power Co. said about 120 tons of the water are believed to have breached the tank's inner linings, some of it possibly leaking into the soil. TEPCO is moving the water to a nearby tank at the Fukushima Dai-chi plant – a process that could take several days.

TEPCO detected the leak earlier in the week, when radiation levels spiked in water samples collected in between the inner linings of the tank. Radiation levels in water samples taken outside the tank also have increased, an indication of the water leak, TEPCO spokesman Masayuki Ono said.

Contaminated water at the plant, which went into multiple meltdowns after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami that devastated northeastern Japan, has escaped into the sea several times during the crisis. Experts suspect there has been a continuous leak into the ocean through an underground water system, citing high levels of contamination among fish caught in waters just off the plant.

The leak is not only an immediate environmental concern, but threatens TEPCO's tight water management situation, Ono said.

The tank contains 13,000 tons of water, which is part of the water that was used to cool melted fuel at the plant's reactors damaged in the twin disasters. So much water has been used that TEPCO is struggling to find storage space.

"The impact (from the leak) is not small, as the space is already tight," Ono said. "We need to revise our water management plans."

More than 270,000 tons of highly radioactive water is already stored in hundreds of gigantic tanks and another underground tank. They are visible even at the plant's entrance and built around the compound, taking up more than 80 percent of its storage capacity.

TEPCO expects the amount to double over three years and plans to build hundreds of more tanks by mid-2015 to meet the demand.

Because of that, TEPCO is anxious to launch a new water treatment system that can purify the contaminated water. The machine, called ALPS, recently started a final test run after six months of delays due to safety requirements by government regulators.

The delay caused TEPCO to use some of seven underground tanks, originally meant for ALPS-treated water, to accommodate the contaminated water backlog as a stopgap measure.

TEPCO officials have indicated they hope to release the water into the ocean, but Ono said the company has no immediate plans to do so without public acceptance.

The plant is being decommissioned but continues to experience glitches. A fuel storage pool temporarily lost its cooling system Friday, less than a month after the plant suffered a more extensive outage.

The underground tank, several times the size of an Olympic-size swimming pool and similar to an industrial waste dump, is dug directly into the ground and protected by two layers of polyethylene linings inside the outermost clay-based lining, with a felt padding in between each layer.

The meltdowns have caused the plant to release radiation into the surroundings and displaced about 160,000 people from around the plant. They do not know when or if they will be able to return home.

..Fukushima fallout may be causing illness in American babies: Study
..By Mike Krumboltz,
..PostsEmail..By Mike Krumboltz, Yahoo! News | The Lookout – Fri, Apr 5, 2013..

A new study from the Radiation and Public Health Project found that babies born in the western United States as well as other Pacific countries shortly after the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan in March 2011 may be at greater risk for congenital hypothyroidism.

Babies born in places including Hawaii, Alaska, California, Oregon and Washington shortly after Fukushima were 28 percent more likely to suffer from the illness, according to the study, than children born in those same regions one year earlier. The illness, if untreated, can cause permanent handicaps in both the body and brain.

According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, "If untreated, congenital hypothyroidism can lead to intellectual disability and abnormal growth. In the United States and many other countries, all newborns are tested for congenital hypothyroidism. If treatment begins in the first month after birth, infants usually develop normally."

MSN's Healthy Living blog explains the Fukushima explosions led to clouds of radioisotope iodine-131 that "floated east over the Pacific Ocean and landed through precipitation on West Coast states as well as other Pacific countries."

In Japan, the health effects associated with Fukushima are obviously much worse. The mortality rate of elderly people who were in retirement facilities near the nuclear plant has reportedly tripled. There has also been reported increases in the number of children with flat feet, thought to be the result of kids playing on radiated soil.

Experts suggest that parents of children born in the western United States or Pacific regions in March or April 2011 get their children checked by a pediatrician for congenital hypothyroidism.

Study: 28% Increase In Thyroid Problems In Babies Born After Fukushima in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington
Posted on April 3, 2013 by WashingtonsBlog
Is Fukushima Causing Health Problems In the United States?
Infants are much more vulnerable to radiation than adults. And see this.

However, radiation safety standards are set based on the assumption that everyone in the world is a healthy man in his 20s.

Now, a medical doctor (Janette D. Sherman, M. D.) and epidemiologist (Joseph Mangano) have released a study showing a 28% increase in thyroid problems in babies born in Hawaii and America's West Coast after the Fukushima nuclear accident.

Janette Sherman, M.D. worked for the Atomic Energy Commission (forerunner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission) at the University of California in Berkeley, and for the U.S. Navy Radiation Defense Laboratory in San Francisco. She served on the EPA's advisory board for 6 years, and has been an advisor to the National Cancer Institute on breast cancer. Dr. Sherman specializes in internal medicine and toxicology with an emphasis on chemicals and nuclear radiation.

Joseph J. Mangano is a public health administrator and researcher who has studied the connection between low-dose radiation exposure and subsequent risk of diseases such as cancer and damage to newborns. He has published numerous articles and letters in medical and other journals in addition to books, including Low Level Radiation and Immune System Disorders: An Atomic Era Legacy.

Their new study – published in the Open Journal of Pediatrics – is entitled "Elevated airborne beta levels in Pacific/West Coast US States and trends in hypothyroidism among newborns after the Fukushima nuclear meltdown."

Common Dreams notes:

[The study found that] children born in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington between one week and 16 weeks after the meltdown began are 28 percent more likely to suffer from congenital hypothyroidism (CH) than were kids born in those states during the same period one year earlier.

CH results from a build up of radioactive iodine in our thyroids and can result in stunted growth, lowered intelligence, deafness, and neurological abnormalities—though can be treated if detected early.

According to researchers from the Radiation and Public Health Project who performed the study, "Fukushima fallout appeared to affect all areas of the US, and was especially large in some, mostly in the western part of the nation." They add that CH can provide an early measure to "assess any potential changes in US fetal and infant health status after Fukushima because official data was available relatively promptly."

Health researcher Joe Mangano similarly cautioned, "Reports of rising numbers of West Coast infants with under-active thyroid glands after Fukushima suggest that Americans may have been harmed by Fukushima fallout. Studies, especially of the youngest, must proceed immediately."

Earlier this year, the Fukushima Prefecture Health Management Survey found that more than 40 percent of the Japanese children studied showed evidence of thyroid abnormalities, which Wasserman says signifies a "horrifying plague."

Sherman and Mangano published an essay in June 2011 claiming that  the 35% spike in infant mortality in Northwest cities since the Fukushima meltdown might have been caused by radiation.

And they published a study in December 2011 in the peer-reviewed journal International Journal of Health Services, alleging that 14,000 people had already died in the United States due to Fukushima.   A Scientific American blog post and Med Page Today slammed the study as being voodoo science. However, Scientific American does admit:

Certainly radiation from Fukushima is dangerous, and could very well lead to negative health effects—even across the Pacific.

This bad boy is half way around the world and is causing this kind of problems in the US.

Could not imagine the problems if there was an earthquake in the New Madrid area in the US, with all of the Nuclear plants located in the heartland.

Yikes.

If nuclear fuel does escape into the ground below Fukushima, what are the facts,
regarding the consequences apart from polluting the water table.

If the so called "China Syndrome" phenomena is what can really take place,
how large a hole can appear in the Earth ?

And how deep can such a hole get ?

That is if such a hole is produced ?

Does anyone know the facts regarding this ?

And what is the situation today, regarding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant ?

Wasn't the so called "China Syndrome", meant to have occurred their too ?

In chernobyl the fuel flow was fragmented by the physical arrangement of the basement, and seemed to solidify. IN Fukinshambles, we were not so lucky, and it seems to have stayed in a hot ball. However, there is a water table below Fukinshambles  which if nothing else, should help cool it somewhat.

IF you actually WANT to do something, rather than just talk, then GET OFF THE GRID!! That's the only excuse they have for running the damn things. If you can't get off grid then at least find out how much of your electricity is derived from nuclear power, and find a way of using "that much" less power.

And don't forget to tell you friends and family what is going on.

were not shocked cos we cannot do anything about this.
just stick your head in the sand like an emu :-\

IF that shizzle hits the water table and I think it will, there will be a huge steam explosion.
chernobyl fuel managed to mix with other debri dirt and sand and create a glass like "elephants foot"
or it would've been worse and THAT was a freaking nightmare.still is.
but FUK U that is just on a level that can't even be modeled. ::) :o >:(
