Wife right now does not understand my need to spend a week catching up on odd life :D
At the same time once we had a discussion she does. Our time in Taiwan was Nutz to put it simply, she has her parents and what have you, and then my Dad and his wife came over, and dad's wife has gluten intolerance.... Feeeeuuuuuk that was hard for me and all partys but josie rocked and did so well always keeping a good face even though i knew it was hard for her.
Then her husband buys a BBQ on the web
Feeeerrrukk
:o
Yakitori anyone ?
Hi Guys
I guess that I am part of this club ;) My wife of 10 years is Filipina. When we go for a visit every night is a feast. She has carried her tradition over here :(
It has calmed down over the years BUT on our daughters birthdays if I don't throw a feast then I am in deep. I tried that one time and didn't like the results. She had a Head Ache for a month :o
So now I throw that feast with no problem :) Who says you cant teach an old dog new tricks.
On Feast days first smoker 4 Boston butts. Second smoker 4 chickens. First grill 10 lbs of hamburger and 5 lbs of hot dogs. Second grill 10 lbs of Bratwurst.
I start the smokers at about 3AM and done around 5PM. I am then allowed to crack a beer ;D
So consired yourselves lucky. 2 days of He11 for me is better than 2 months of Head Aches ;D
Bless

Wombats are a bit tough to eat, but if you run over them a few times (i.e. Road Kill) they are nice and tasty ;D
I saw a truck turned over from running over one on the New England Highway (NSW)... tough little buggers :D

Ok by what you posted there Mr Back you now have become the official expert on here for BBQ !!! ;D
I used to live with a gay Phillipino who was doing all sorts of jazz for Asia and the UN whilst he was studying his Master's degree here in Oz. Great guy to chat to since he came from a minority group and he spent time living withing with a Taiwan Landlord and Me... Very Learned Person who went out to and tried to change his plight in life to great success !
BUT the little bugger never gave me the recipe to Fried Chicken >:(
There a couple of guys at work married to Filipinos and I have met one guys wife and she is a lot of fun to be around ! When i say fun I mean it in the honest sense of she will start making silly hats by folding napkins and our table at a dinner is always fun with the most LOL

Oddly when i skyped the lady that I had bought the little wombat She was quite happy LOL
I always seem to have more money at hand when I arrive back from OS than when I do back home. Still not sure if i was charged yet and sadly a package from Taiwan has arrived quicker than what an internal package in Oz has taken. Over governed lazy sods who don't understand trade = Oz LOL
Lady Happy... I am Happy and when I posted this i didn't know my bank balance as i spent a lot in TW buying running gear like a gps watch and running shoes!

Hi Soma
If PWM ever gets that transporter working I would gladly be in charge of the Peggy feast :)
I sold my 500 gallon smoker about 6 years ago so we would have to have the young ones dig a pit to cook the pig.
Fried Chicken
So many variations of Filipina fried chicken. My wife's family version is very different. They "fry" it in an oven. In the village it is done in a stone oven. very intresting to watch a feast being cooked in the village. The chicken is marinaded and then put in a steamer style setup using oil instead of water. The chicken is then basted with the oil. Very yummy.
My next family feast day is the second Saturday in May so I have to get ready. Before then(when I dig out my recipes) I will give you a copy of my favorite chicken marinade recipe. It is good for grilled smoked or fried. It will make people think that you are a master chef on chicken. :o

Hey BIG thanks for the reminder that I must go and check out Kyrall Castle !
It should be a blast!!!!!!!
I had Hakka Style Mountain Goat whilst on holidays which was awesome. Hakka is about my fave food style of all in Taiwan!
Still reckon if this killshot doesn't happen that I can slay a few buffet's in Vegas though as they have to be the best value in the world ;D 8)
Tried out the Little Wombat Tonight!
Without hard evidence in the form of pic's and experience i can say its an awesome grill mainly due to its versatility and the manner in how the firebox works with it's insulated casing.
I used the spit roast function with some Sheep tonight and that did not disappoint. My lady posted that on her facebook or whatever she use's on the social mediascape and everyone that could come to eat were pooped off ;D
Tonight will be using this grill for the other main reason as to why I bought it... And that is Yakitori :D
I suspect the Cons to this Char Grill would be cleaning. Time will tell on that as a Weber Kettle aint the easiest thing to clean.
