I had a bill to pay that was last call due on May 4, 2013. So, back it up some, I had ordered checks from my bank back in March around the 20th. They hit my account with the payment due on April 2nd when they supposedly were to send the checks out.
Now that simple little thing of sending checks on the bill me day should crack open ones logic and think, hey, those checks should be here in 7 days. That would be April 9 and I should have em in my hand.
Well now, Maybe I must be in another realm of weirdness where matrix time and space warps in and out cause I have no checks in the mail when they should be and that day is the 12th of April when I stop at my post office. Later, I call the bank, ask a few questions, tell them maybe they better attach my PO box just in case, cause in my head, I can't help but bring forth the post office has been opening my mail for the last 10 years and spying on me.
In the past, the post office has been delivering my mail to the PO box with no PO box number cause they know me and its a small little rural post office, so I'm comfortable with knowing I will get my mail, opened, but I get my mail.
WTF, not this time. First, I previously alerted the bank April 12th to be sure the PO box is on the check order. They do as I order and I fall back to sleep in the dream world as just another human living out their life.
Then after waiting, I get a letter April 26 from the check making joint, they can't deliver the checks because of a wrong address. Thats Funny, for the past 15 years they been sending those checks to the same exact address all previous bank letters and previous checks came to.
I go back to the bank last Monday April 29th and show em the letter and ask why no checks are in my possession and now I have ask for 3 bank checks to pay bills. They print out 3 checks with all my stuff. I also again tell them to include that PO box on my check order re-mailing as the teller also says, I will not be charged again when sending them cause obviously they forgot the last time I told them to include the PO box on the check order.
The matrix laughed with that one and giggling about what it can do next, than this happens.
I take the 3 bank checks, write one out May 1st to pay a bill due by Saturday May the 4th, slipped it into the return envelope and than the mail on the 1st, but, I post dated the check for the 3rd, so I know on the 3rd it will have funds to pass and not stop with an overage charge which I have overage charge protection just in case such a thing were to happen but because I used critical thinking and post dated the check and strategically planned it to arrive on the 3rd, there should be no problem as it should be cashed on the 3rd when my account has sufficient funds to pay all the bills.
Still Wednesday afternoon the 1st of May, I ask the postman in the main post office, not my post office cause I can't trust them when the time line is critical, when will that letter arrive and the postman says maybe Thursday, maybe Friday. I go good, I'm safe they will get it before Saturday.
They got it Thursday and immediately presented it to the bank electronically and BAMMM!. I get hit with an overage charge. Now, I remember when the bank told me I should set up my account to protect me from things like this and I wouldn't be charged overage charges. I go all is good and do it, I feel nirvana within the universe and the world is good and I am protected. Till the bank tacked on a $12.50 overage charge for protecting me from overage charges. Go ahead laugh.
So I go to the bank today, Friday, and question this act. I speak with the teller who has no idea and calls over a predatory looking woman with a beek nose and squeaky eyes. I explain how the world works as told to me by the bank and the check is post dated for the 3rd but it was payed on the 2nd and looking at this aborted life form I see emptiness within.
She re-affirms the charge stands and I should be glade the place I payed didn't charge me with more fees and I go in my head, this is interesting.
I point out the check is post dated and she goes we don't look at all the checks that come in here just like that place doesn't either when they cashed my check, so I ask, so if I bring in a post dated check early, I can cash it. She goes no. See how that makes sense in the banks matrix world.
Much to my surprise, but not really, cause I know how the Matrix makes it up as it goes along, torturing one, I say, Oh, I see, another business can cash post dated checks but people like me, can't. Her head goes up and down just like the Matrix legion she is.
If you have no clue what I have here before you, don't worry, most don't.
;D
in the old dazes that would have been called murphy's law
and why they let him pass it i have no clue...
thanks for the giggle gigas..i don't feel so alone now
;)
yikes.
i recall the first time i got an atm card. i was 18 years old, working at a can making factory. was pulling in good money. it was protected by united steel workers union so at the time it was good money for my age and experience. i would deposit money and when i needed it, i would just withdraw with my new atm card.
well one day i notice my account is not going down, only up. i check the statement and realize, even though i'm withdrawing 25 dollars every so often, the only transactions being shown are deposits. i think, "how strange" and go inside the bank to show them this. the teller gets all flustered about it, and sends me to some big wig in a big office.
i re-explain the situation. the person eyes me suspiciously, as if to suggest i was trying to scam her. i explain it again. finally, she checks it out. a half hour later, she finally returns to thank me for my honesty.
what had happened was, they had printed my account number on my atm card for withdrawals, different than for deposits. i was withdrawing money from someone else's account but depositing in my own.
of course, the technology was new at the time, so it was sure to have flub ups, but i can just imagine the person this was happening to going in to complain that they aren't making withdrawals yet their account is going down in balance and then the teller saying the person made atm withdrawals. lol
just be glad you didn't get that treatment for being honest and trying to fix a mistake the bank had made.
