I was having a discussion with Soma this morning that got around to our favorite films that depict the real story behind the scenes regarding UFO's and Aliens and secrecy of the subject.
Soma mentioned SG1 as one of the best (which is a heavy favorite around here! lol ;D ), and I mentioned Steven Spielberg's 'Taken' as my favorite so far.
I was reminded how far under the radar this miniseries was and relatively unknown it remains.
Despite Reeses pieces and what not from his earlier work, I give this one 2 thumbs up and couldn't have done better myself. 8)
Hope you enjoy.

ahhh gotta love Sg-1 ;) :P ;D
But expanding on this theme to a grander picture but of the same ilk. I would say "Oblivion" various messages with-in that movie I think is closer to the truth then what we would like to acknowledge or even think of. I don't want to spoil the movie for anyone but there are plenty of things in that movie that makes you think. The way the characters think of reality, what reality really is, and when faced with the truth some characters deny it and don't want to deal with it or even think about it.
I've seen it twice. Worth it.
Edward
P.S. With out totally side tracking and getting totally away I will also mention as an aside, The Matrix Trilogy, Close Encounters of the 3rd kind and E.T. The extraterestial to a certain extent.
I just watched the very first SG movie over the weekend [again], and I trust my other half is not seeing value in viewing the whole series's LOL
My other half say's to me when I am up late chatting to you folke's "Why you worry about this stuff? everyone know's UFO, and Alien are all real" :D
What a sweet gal ;D :-*
I am grateful for some very good hint's A51 and Edward... when it come's to quick to watch movie's or tv episode's !
Pssst >>> I am not sure what part of my wife thought she can escape this part of the contract without the basic training of SG1 ??? ;D
;)
They Live

Lets go way back before time was time for you.
1951 "the thing" is found encased in ice up at the pole somewhere and recovered whereby it thaws out and kills things.
1955, and we saw this island earth with John Lear planning stuff with his pal Exeter aka john alexander on the interocitor

The movie world was introduced to aliens among us picking our best brains for solutions to saving their planet from war with our nuclear logic. Imagine that, our brains bigger and better then their brains.
1957 we got "forbidden planet" where we go there and find an alien race already gone with all kind of neat stuff to play with.
1967 our tv gets a prime time brain buster called "the invaders" with roy thinnes who happens upon aliens operating in secret on this planet with nefarious intentions that seem to be still going on to this day.
1988 we get a direct hit between the eyes with "they live" and now those pesky aliens are in disguise and manipulating out minds as they plunder the planet for themselves. This, is remarkable in the sense we see reality as to how it really is and will be as humans are rounded up and made to obey or else.
1999 our minds are woken to "the matrix" and I have to tell you this was/is the most profound reach into out fake reality yet. This awakening is one of three that go deeper into the matrix reality. We see how and who has the authority of power over the human experience and just what a human is worth to them, the power movers and controllers of reality they create.
2012 our minds are indulged by "Prometheus" yet another scenario of mankind's beginning from a source long forgotten and gone but found again only to turn on its creation and prepare to finish us off. Their gonna tell us more in 2015 with the follow up.
2013 we reach a place of "oblivion" where reality has been challenged and captured under alien authority and ultimate control. Two humans are caught early on and cloned by an alien pyramid provoking war upon the planet as it rapes the world of its resources and hunts the remaning life on the planet to extinction. The clones are numbered and kept by coded implants to never stray from their sectors they patrol for offending humans who survived the wars.
I keep saying it, were refugees captured from a heavenly war and held in a form of ignorant state where our minds are being restrained by occupiers of some other world now in ownership of here.
I like your post Gigas, I couldn't agree more.
No mention of Star Trek? I still love it for how it impresses the idea of a diversity of races in the Galaxy.

lol, I wasn't going to get involved with another SyFy series, but sort of got "roped" into watching Defiance one night. I was nearly taken aback by that. The aliens are perhaps the closest to what I understand the primary Sirian / Orion Alliance types to be.
I made a video that shows this...

As for SG1; I've thought about that a bit recently, in particular the villages of "primitive people", who never seem too surprised by the difference in technologies, sometimes not caring. Makes me wonder if Earth is somehow held back and/or excluded from the stellar community for some reason (other than home world pissed-off at colony).
Glad I watched that. I ponder whether it is a complete timeline, or whether there are other sagas preceding.
I love "They Live". All I can do is watch and yell at the screen, "Yes, yes, yes!"
