Reportedly, large numbers of government operatives from various agencies converged urgently on a residential neighbourhood in Norfolk, Virginia, on Tuesday night after an unidentified object fell from the sky there. News reports describe the object as "something odd", with some eyewitness accounts saying it resembled a balloon and others suggesting that the crashlanded artifact had a structure similar to "styrofoam". According to local TV news:
One person told authorities it was making a strange noise.
People living and working in the immediate area were rapidly evacuated and the district was sealed off by a combination of police and military personnel. The presence of operatives from shadowy federal agencies in overall charge of the incident was - of course - not mentioned by spokesmen briefing the media.
However, it was revealed that initial contact with the landed object was handled using a robot. Following this there was consultation with experts from NASA.
Not long thereafter the mystery object from the sky was apparently loaded onto an unidentified government vehicle and removed from the scene. Subsequently local residents were permitted to return to their homes and the military and police contingents dispersed

Could be a number of different space Satellite debris as far as I can tell. Radioactivity is a serious concern when something like this comes to our Earth Surface, and not to mention the toxic fuels used for some of these satellites. SO concern of it is merited.

Either way, is a bit concerning to get such a response as "Weather Balloon" so quickly, as we here in the US already know where this leads...LOL

Brings up a la la land thought I have had for years regarding pilliaging a crashed Earth Built Black Op's craft or even a non earth based Craft.
Only thing I think is that I would do my best pilther and get the hell out of there ASAP LOL

i did find a weather device once years ago..out a couple hollows over
that looked like that without the stryfoam box thingie
it had been out in the woods for a winter and you could still see pieces of the balloon attached
it was large
and the info to call a number if found...i didn't..i figured if they hadn't missed it by now
too bad...wasn't much left..i got the heavy cord lines out of there so no critters would get tangled
it wasn't there a couple of months later so i don't know who got it
didn't care either...
i am such a bad citizen..sigh

hmmm, if i chanced upon something that had crashed and could be convinced it was a weather balloon, test package, etc., would probably poke around it a bit then call whoever just to see if they would identify it to satisfy my curiousity...
but then again I might sell it for scrap... 8)
