I offer here, two files; and with them, a small taste of the Internet of old.
Cry For Bass (http://bayfiles.net/file/XcSZ/j9l4gT/cry4bass%2B.mp3).
Butterfly Flew Away (http://bayfiles.net/file/XcQ1/xVmBvW/butterfly-flew-away%2B.mp3).
These were known as music modules, or mod files. They were an early predecessor of the more recent mp3 file, and consisted of very small, individual sound files which were strung together with the use of a tracker program. Both of them are at least 20, and probably 25 years old.
These are not illegal. Both files come from The Mod Archive (http://modarchive.org/), and date from a time before corporations or government knew about the Internet, or at least acknowledged it. In those days, as well as FTP sites, there were entire bulletin board systems stocked with files like these; they had no copyright, and at this point, the author names of both files have also long since been lost.
All I have done is convert both of them into mp3 files, for the benefit of those of you who do not have a mod file player; which I suspect is probably most of you. ;)
While you listen to these, I would encourage browsing this (http://www.textfiles.com/directory.html) archive of text files from that period, and even a slightly earlier one. I have memories of that time, and one of my passions is a desire to keep it alive.

http://questioncopyright.org/promise - Some more philosophical reading, in the same vein. I am sure Amy will find it compatible with her interests.
Thank You, Petrus! I love the music! I heard a mod of Sisters of Mercy doing... Ah, geez. What was the name of that? Anyway, someOne made a mod of it and it was My FAV on My old 386.
And yes, I have visited questioncopyright.org in the past. Indeed, the whole purpose of copyright is to protect profits. Remove profit motive and there is no motive to steal IP, and it always goes to the One who created it rather than a corporation or other fictional entity.

We have more and more in common I find, Amy. :D

Agreed.
