YOWZA!!!

Here in Amerika we have long island, lovingly known as the longest parking lot in the northern hemisphere of this side of the planet.

I been in that situation numerous times and my left leg almost fell off from all the double clutching hours on end sitting, moving a couple a feet, sitting. New York City is one big traffic jam. So I laugh when people in little cities cry about traffic. LA comes second.

Oh, here's one. Driving Interstate 95 across the bronx or anywhere new york city and you see cars along the shoulder stripped. You stall or get a flat, you better be prepared for the scalpers to start crawlin on you to take everything they can steal. Inner streets are littered with stripped out burned out cars.

Wonder what the theft rate is in china for cars, mopeds and bicycles.

Very high on certain models. I have seen the stripped cars in NYC many times. It looks like a war zone. They can strip a car in a few minutes.
I have never seen a striped car here. I have heard of cars, mopeds, bikes and electrical bikes being taken. The small euro-style motorcycles on the top of the list for quantity and electric bikes taking in a close second.

One of my friends had his car taken a few years ago. It is rampid here but I the US rate is higher. I usuall tell the locals that the number one problem are thiefs. They will take anything they can get their hands on.

The larger the item the safer one might feel. It is all organiged, It is not the poor people stealing an apple to eat. It is teams working areas. The police keep very busy tracking them down. I know of no one who has not been robbed of something. Cell phones and jewery are on the top of the list. Pick pockets and grab and run are most likely the number one crime.

No one has ever hit me on the streets and picked me. But my wife has had several phones picked in crowded places like the bus. Busses and trains are the worst, places where people fall asleep on long rides. So I stay awak the entire trip and never have a problem. We had someone steal the wash off our dry line several years ago. I told the wife don't hang them there overnight. She said it is no problem. No one steals our wet clothes. The next morning the line was empty. Told her so! And that was on the second floor inside a steel cage.

The best thing to do is to buy an odd object, like my motoercycle. It was made in Japan and in all of China I have only see 3 so far so there is no demand on parts. They want the cars or bikes that sell very well and the demand for parts is high enough to make money.

When we have a traffic jam that stops all traffic vendors come out of nowhere to sell food and drink. Even on the highways. The worse one I was in so far was a 6 hour complete stop. But we had lunch and supper delivered to my SUV. Sodas and water were also sold. And at the same price as usual. No scalping. When the police opened the road it looked like Saturday night at the drive in. 20 miles of garbage tossed out the windows. We kept ours.
