I have a problem to find a good KVM switch, dual monitor DVI.
I want to work with two DVI monitors with two computers. Its an easy case to solve I thought.
What I find are a lot of KVM switches, but also a lot of bad reviews of those gear...
I was wondering maybe a member has the experience I dont have and can help me pick the good KVM switch.
I see switches for the feel good price of 3000$ +
Yeah, well I hoped to find some near 300 $ ::)
Can someone help?
Thanks in advance ;D ;D

I have two computers with a monitor for each and use this software to control both computers with one keyboard and mouse. It works really well. You have to have the software on both machines and its easy to control. Another point is... its free!!!
Any how.... heres the link....

Yes, thats a possibility, but does not solve mine. :)
I like to have some hardware and with the setup with two monitors and two computers.
DID you try searching ebay with the phrase "DVI KVM switches" ?
Find one you like then google the model number using words like (model number) problems, or (model number) review, or (model number) test
Hope that helps.
I had a KVM switch several years ago. I don't know about now, but back then, it wasn't good. The monitor reception was adversely affected by it for some reason.
Although I haven't done it before, and I'd need to do a lot of research first, if I wanted single keyboard control of multiple machines, the way I'd probably go about it would be to run an X Windows server on one machine, (with FreeBSD) and then have both of them connect to it; which would mean that you'd need an Ethernet connection between them as well.
That would be the hard way. The easier way would be to treat one machine as the machine you primarily inhabit, and the other machine as a file server. For accessing most of the files on the storage machine, running an httpd (Apache Web server) would probably do the trick. You can stream anything audio/visual through a browser connected to the Web server, and read virtually any other kind of files that way, as well.
As far as running things on the other machine, an SSH (secure shell) server would work.
Back in the late 90's we found that only the expensive metal cased ones were any good.
I'd hoped that 20 years on they'd have sorted that out by now...
I do everything Indeed on small computers so it hasn't come up since except with domestic video switching where the same rule seems to apply.
If the insides are any good it tends to come in a metal case, if the case is cast then "the insides" are usually VERY good! Extruded aluminium casing , isn't the same as cast when it comes to assessing the quality..

Thanks for the replies! :) :)
After consulting a friend I will use external desktop to use the other computer, its just the most easy en best to use solution, and less expensive. I was thinking KVM switch all the way and blind for any other solution. 8)
