Sarah Palin Claims Jesus Celebrated Easter

QuoteSarah Palin claimed today that Jesus Christ celebrated Easter during his time on Earth.

In an interview with Fox and Friends this morning, the former Alaska governor promoted her new book about the left's "war on Christmas" and argued that all Christian holidays should return to the traditional versions practiced by Jesus.

"It makes me so gosh darn angry," Palin explained. "The liberal left in this country has targeted Christian holidays and is trying to secularize them right out of existence.

"When Jesus celebrated Easter with his disciples there were no Easter bunnies or egg hunts. There were no Easter sales at department stores or parades in the street. Easter was a special time of prayer and Christian activism.

"Jesus would gather all the townspeople around and would listen to their stories about the meaning of Easter in their lives. Then he would teach them how to love one another, how to protest Roman abortion clinics and how to properly convert homosexuals.

"You can't even do things like that these days without getting called out by some wacko left-wing human rights group. Christians had more freedom under Roman rule than we do now in our own country! We need to return Easter back to the way it was when Jesus was alive."

QuoteGospel of Palin
Easter is a Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after he was crucified by the Romans in the 1st century A.D. It is the most important holiday for Eastern and Orthodox Christians, and also has great significance in the West.

Because Easter is a celebration of Jesus's resurrection from the dead, it is highly unlikely that he celebrated the holiday before his death. Its first recorded instance is sometime in the mid-2nd century. This seemingly obvious fact was not lost on the Fox and Friends team, who instantly challenged Palin's assertions.

"Sarah, you know that we love you," started co-host Brian Kilmeade. "I can understand if you think Christian holidays have become too secular and you want to return to the days of the early church. But you have to know that Jesus never celebrated Easter right? I mean you have to know that. What do you think Easter celebrates?"

"Well, Brian, Easter celebrates, you know, sticking it to all the liberal lefties out there who want to be taking our guns and our freedom," Palin responded. "It celebrates the rights of the unborn and the right to religious freedom, to not have government come in and tell you who to believe in and who not to ..."

"It celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus," Kilmeade interrupted. "It celebrates his death and resurrection from the dead. Now Sarah, tell me how can Jesus celebrate his own death before he died?"

Palin stared blankly into the screen for about 15 seconds, before co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck cut to commercial.

I heard John Mc Cain is thinking of taking another run
at the POTUS....

;D

I guess he wants a Democrat in the White House...again!

In any case it would be funny to see who he would pick
for a running mate.

He wants Himself in the WH.  He happens to be assigned to the Democrat flag side of the puppet stage, as the masters pull all strings there.  He will pick the One the masters want Him to.

Did I miss the point?
How can Jesus celebrate a Holiday that didn't even exist yet?

He celebrated Passover because he was a Jew.
Easter wasn't instituted until 325AD (Council of Nicea) by the Catholic Church. [Interestingly the Sabbath (Saturday) was also changed to 'The Venerable Day of the Sun' and Christmas (Saturnalia/Brumalia) was instituted).
The Bishop of Nicea (St Nicholas (Old Nick -- Santa Claus) didn't like what the opposition was saying so he swiftly jumped up and 'punched' the opposition in the face. Politics hasn't changed since  ;D
Hence forth it was punishable by death to worship the Passover instead of the new (Old -- Oestre).
You decide whether man has the right to proclaim a change in God ordained festivals!

Well I hate to spoil the fun, but..................Snoops says this is "FALSE"!  :))

An excerpt from the Snoops link posted below says:

By the end of the day links and excerpts referencing this article were being circulated via social media, with many of those who encountered it mistaking it for a genuine news item. However, the article was just a bit of political humor from the Daily Currant which spoofed the debate over secularization of religious-based holidays and the stereotype of former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin as ill-informed about historical matters.

As noted in the Daily Currant's "About" page, that web site deals strictly in satire:
The Daily Currant is an English language online satirical newspaper that covers global politics, business, technology, entertainment, science, health and media.

Q. Are your news stories real?

A. No. Our stories are purely fictional. However they are meant to address real-world issues through satire and often refer and link to real events happening in the world.

@rdunk,

Thank you sir.

Quote

Sarah Palin thinks Jesus celebrated Easter? No, but add it to
growing list of fake stories that fool readers

U.S. Rep. John Fleming of Louisiana linked to an Onion article on his Facebook page about Planned Parenthood opening an $8 billion "abortionplex" in Topeka, Kan. Fleming removed the post when he realized it was fake.

The New York Times was tricked in 2011 by the Onion's fake "Tiger Beat" cover featuring President Obama.

The website FoxNation.com fell for an Onion story in 2010 that said President Obama "sent a rambling 75,000-word e-mail to the entire nation." The story sent commenters into a frenzy before Fox Nation figured out it wasn't real and removed it from the website.

The Daily Currant is beginning to make its mark, though. In February, the Washington Post cited a report from the Currant that Palin was joining the Al Jazeera America news network. This resulted in some biting criticism John Nolte of the conservative website Breitbart.com.

Nolte should have restrained himself. A month later, Breitbart was fooled by a Currant article that said Nobel Prize winning economist and noted liberal Paul Krugman had filed for bankruptcy.
This fake news being mistaken for real delighted Krugman:

On Friday I started hearing from friends about a fake story making the rounds about my allegedly filing for personal bankruptcy; I even got asked about the story by a reporter from Russian television, who was very embarrassed when I told him it was fake. But I decided not to post anything about it; instead, I wanted to wait and see which right-wing media outlets would fall for the hoax. And Breitbart.com came through!

It's easy to mock those who fall for fake stories ... but it might be better to think twice. Fake stories mistaken for real spread like an unchecked virus thanks to social media.
