George welcomed theoretical physicist and author Dr. Michio Kaku, who discussed a variety of science and physics topics, as well as the kinds of scientific advancements we might expect in the years ahead. With experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, "we hope to create dark matter," and that would send shock waves throughout the whole physics community, he commented. "Some people think dark matter is ordinary matter floating above us in another dimension," he added. Interestingly, he noted that an invisibility cloak has recently been achieved in experiments with small objects, and it's only a matter of time before it can done with larger objects.

String theory suggests that we live in a multiverse, and that our universe could be thought of as a three-dimensional bubble floating in a larger 11-dimension realm, he explained. Travel through a wormhole might be possible if we could obtain "negative matter" (not available on Earth), which could function to keep a gateway or ring through the wormhole from collapsing, Kaku hypothesized. This negative matter could be compared to the dilithium crystals used to power the warp drive on Star Trek's spaceships, he detailed.
The technology for building virtual environments such as depicted in The Matrix continues to develop, and eventually we may be able to move around and touch objects within such a 360 degree world, right in our living rooms, he said. On another front, a research institute based in Kyoto, Japan is developing a technology using MRIs to record a person's dreams and turn them into images, he reported. In addition to his own radio show, Dr. Kaku now hosts a weekly cable TV program, Sci Fi Science, on the Science Channel.

But.i dont want to bust your bubble but i dont trust him.im greatful for him getting young people interested in physics.
I think he is a shill.a true dr. of physics knows the truth.he doesnt speak the truth but dances around the issue.just like that black guy that makes those type shows.they are the new stanton friedmans.
One of the reasons i dont believe him is because he promotes string theory.as you already know i dont believe in it.i think its a distraction and waste of what precious time we devote to this discipline.

Which is the theoretical framework of particle physics. With the discovery of the Boson, which it predicted, it's seeming pretty solid.
But it is a theory, much like this entire website. Believed by a few, not understood by the multitude. Even the few that know it best still work to understand it better.
How is string theory the framework of theoretical particle physics.particles were being found way before string theory came into being.particles can easily be found if you keep upping the energy and speed.the higgs was found because they upped the voltage into the billions of electron volts.
How does a string fit in with particles.before higgs was found .the string guys were trying to explain things based on the particles already in the box.now a new particle has been found and now they are rewriting their string theories.how conveniant.
My theory.if a smaller particle is found.they will rewrite the numbers to make strings work again.
I did think that Dr Kaku was one of the good guys or more honest ones and have liked his presentations in the past...but cannot claim to understand to the level of an expert to judge his opinions or theories to a higher degree...
I suppose all we can do is judge to the best of our abilities or along others who we may respect opinions & follow who may make some judgements on others behalf.
I and I suspect most of us used to believe most so called experts well known or in the media to all trustworthy..but after following various associated forums or other types of experts, we see that there is often such differences of opinions and find that many of the so called experts have varied opinions against each other.
Then those trying to determine who is the more valid, truthful, accurate , more correctly informative make their judgement...sometimes we are uncertain..but for those who may study long enough may think they determine who they most believe.
If we continue long enough and have the time , we may all go through stages and will have ups and downs in our conclusions.
and if one does not possess the knowledge , ability or good judgement to decide we listen to so called experts...and often will be thrown when another expert opposes those views...
After listening to or following certain experts , if we start to see flaws in what they say after others may point out concerns... then we may start to question those experts.
I and others no doubt believe we have experienced this and will have varying views or at least become aware that this is actually a common concern...Most average people do not have time, desire or ability to investigate.
In some topics of my interest , my views have altered several times on what I once believed..and I have had people who I used to believe and respect be shown to seem wrong or incorrect in what they had preached..
So even among the elite like Dr Kaku or Brian Cox from the U.K... I have now seen others suggest that they may be there to deceive the public.
Maybe just like Politicians or Governments do...which the Likes of some conspiracists suggest that they work for the establishment..
So its not easy to know for sure , I think all we can do is make our own judgement at the end of the day..
But If Robo has a point about String theory that may be valid and Dr Kaku still suggests he believes in it... then I do respect his view point !
No doubt after following and looking into many theories for some of us..we see so many possibilities, but some we just cannot accept after further research..
I do not claim to have the answers by the way ! just a point of view for now...if I have not walked myself into a trap ! :)
You asked my opinion on physics.
I was the first person i know of to state.there is no such thing as an absolute vacuum.it came out about six months later that the majority of physicist were in agreement with this .
I use to spend my time on ats and science forums getting physicist into hot debates.i take pride in being a high energy theoretical physicist even though i dont have a degree.i specialize in high energy dc voltage .kinetic energy and plasma.
Most of my experience is hands on and reading books that go back to the beginning of electricity.some of the best knowledge out there for a beginner in the field is now over a hundred years old.the last fifty years has almost been a waste for the physics profession due to all the secrecy.the hard science is being withheld from the public.now its all being redefined in abstract code and modeling..to truly learn physics.hands on is the best most reliable way to learn.in a practical enviroment.
Have you ever read the theory of everything?

I think that you and other PRC members do have some very good understanding within certain topics who may not be fully educated as such...and that you have proven to be quite a researcher in certain Subjects discussed on PRC...
No doubt in certain areas your knowledge is as good or better than some of the educated students with degrees...
Being keen , driven to become self taught can often make one an expert...
Qualifications alone do not make on expert...A keen interest in a subject certainly helps..

Yes, particles were found first, and no one really understood them. Like everything in science, "it's a work in progress". You make an observation, you know little about it, you start to form a theory, you fill it in. You make errors along the way and backtrack. You try again. And again. Baby steps forward. Welcome to the history of Human knowledge. Science. Physics. String theory.
String theory attempts to explain why and how particles interact with each other. It is the evolution of M-theory, which simply tried to make sense of the very substance of what this universe is made out of. So yes, elements were first discovered, then chemistry sought to understand chemicals, molecules, atoms. Then the elements of the atom. Beyond. Thus, String theory is attempting to explain the very framework of particle physics by replacing point-like particles (in theoretical particle physics) with one dimentional objects.(called "strings" but not literally strings, a common misunderstanding.)

I was just trying to explain to wartoad what I thought may explain your comments about Dr Kaku and why you may have said such a thing.
I at one time felt offended similar to How Wartoad reacted.. when someone said something similar about someone I used to highly respect or believe until they explained their reasons and later I compared what they said and came to a different conclusion...
My view now is often even the experts of experts have proven wrong...
Its just very hard to say if many of them in the media are trying to mislead the masses or if they just alter judgements when challenged if they later may have alternative opinions with their views to acknowledge it to the public..

Mk credentials are high enough that it should be obvious to other mainline physicist and followers that what he is teaching as the limit we are at is not the limit in reality.we are fifty years ahead of it.yet the physicist will not even hint at what reality really is.off the top of my head.the only two real breakthroughs have been carbon products and the higgs.yet trillions are being spent.all this crap of the threat of war being their excuse for protecting these secrets is bs.there will not be another world war in the next hundred years.the world is too interconnected and war would bring the entire world back to the stone ages.no big country wants that.only the billionaires.who could then take this tech and become godlike.

I saw the vid you brought up about invisibility.when he says small things.he is talking about a certain form of crystal that is triangle shaped sort of.and a small object can be hid behind it.sure we could make giant crystals but thats impractible.bending light rays using magnetic fields is the future.or just plane old active camoflage.basically led and cameras or some sort of fiber optic cloth like i saw jimmy kimmel wear one night at the intro.it was such a top secret that there is no reference on google search and even using terms to search it will show other similar things.i know what i saw and its very similar to what a yt vid shows even though the vid has been thoroughly debunked as a light trick.its a complete head to toe fiber optic suit.its not perfect but pretty darn good at distances up to about twenty feet.
