Many of You may have been aware that My system had slowed to an extremely slow crawl. It is now MUCH better because of the help of these members:
Undo11 - Beth has been working for DAYS, virtually non-stop, cleaning and replacing, and installing, and all the stuff needed to clean a computer. She deserves a HUGE thanks and maybe even applause!
ArMaP - Having become infected with a Chinese thing (360 something in Chinese), ArMaP suggested going into safe mode to delete the files which were absolutely untouchable in normal mode. Although I still could not delete the files, I was able to shred them to smithereens. Now they are gone!
Deuem - He provided the shredder software.
Thank all of You! I can function SOOOOOOOO much better now!
Great news Amy! ;D
Now, for gawds sake, go in your control panel and create a restore point for your system!
That way, if you get icky files in your system in the future, you can just restore to this glorious point on your computer again! 8)
Funny how Peggy attracts so MANY selfless givers. Light workers come in all shapes and sizes.
As to problems or puzzles to be solved, I learned early on to get out of undo and sky's way! ;) ;D
Littleenki often jumps into the fray as well, helping out where a need is seen.
So many I could go on and on, you know who you are my friends.

We attract good vibes. [smile]
I went to Control Panel... Where do I go to create this restore point...?
I don't know if there's anything in the control panel for making a restore point, but if you go to "Start","All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" you will find a program called "System Restore". That's the one that you can use to make restore points and to restore the computer to a previous restore point.
PS: I'm not sure if things are exactly like I said above, as I used a 64 bit version of Windows XP, and that version was based on Windows Server 2003.
Thank You again, ArMaP! Sadly, I have no "All Programs" option. I'm on Windows XP Professional 2002, Service Pack 3. And there is no such animal.
Heh. Yeah, there is. Found it. Will do the thing now.
If you go back to a restore point, does everything you have done since then get errased? What if it is 2 years back? Anyone know exactly what it does before it is activated in the future. I maintain mine in the off mode so as to not do it by accident. Depending on what it does one could be very un-happy. Becareful with that one it might errase everything you have done since the point.
Depends on how you do your backups, if any!
Waiting for details.

The restore point applies to system files, the registry and things like that, it does not affect user files. Going back to a restore point will remove any programs installed since the creation of the restore point, that's the most common use of the restore point, to return the computer to a point in time before some action (usually the installation of some program, either on purpose or not) that negatively affected the system.

Not very likely that would be possible, as installing any program that uses Windows installer will create a restore point and the disk space used by restore points is limited.

System restore is like backing up the system files and the registry, if you want (and should) to make backups of your personal files you need to use something else. At work I use Areca Backup.
