Title: Cool Moon Astrophotography
Post by: Elvis Hendrix on January 13, 2014, 06:44:57 AM
Evening Cats.
I came across this guy probably a couple of years ago on youtoob.
You may already know him. He's called Bill Bryson and he's a moon astro photographer and rather eccentric in my opinion.
Any hoo here's a couple of his fine vids for y'all's perusal.

Elvis.

What I find interesting is he "only" uses a 1.799 Euro Telescope.

That is a lot of money for the normal people. But not that much when you think about it.

I always wonder what would happen (we would be able to see) when Pegasus would have a REAL telescope.

Well, show me the money...?  :P :P

So, what would we be able to see?

He does a great job with the gear he has. What i also like is the fact he
comments on the areas he is covering. Its quite enlightening putting names to the faces of craters etc.
Have you ever wondered why the huge industrial telescopes dont view the moon Lunica?
I went on an obsevatory forum once and asked the same question!
It was as if id asked to see inside the popes Knicker draw!
They really dont want you to ask them to point there million dollar scopes at the moon.
I wonder why..           (http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a572/paparumbo/Marx_zps94c15427.gif)

What I know and recall at the moment is most bigger telescopes are handled by the vatican or another blabla organization with to many power  8)

I remember a thread on ATS about the same quest to hire a 2 meter telescope to look at the moon... it didnt work at the and.
Its exactly that problem I poop in the question here  ;)

What would happen if Pegasus could effort building a serious telescope...

So, what happens? What do we see?  What will go on? ::)

Some guy here said he made a huge scope out of PVC pipe. I wonder what he used for optics. Maybe he poured his own glass and polished it up. Anyone know how to do this. Fire up the foundry!

The closest moon photography/ video ive seen is from the infamous John Lenard Walson. I wont post a link because he is bat Shyte crazy about copyright ::)
But put in a youtube search and you will see how close he gets.
He says he "modded" his scope, and by the looks of it he has.But he wont spill the beans on what the "mods" are.
Still its the closest moon scape ive ever seen.

Yes I know him, seen some of his vids.
I remember him coming up with some "hoaxed" images also. But dont know if that is really the case. (edit: a little goolgle and there are some red flags over there)

But it says enough only a guy like him comes up with such close observation of the moon in the public.

So, lets say I order a 2 meter mirror... How long does it take the doorbell rings at my house?
