Title: Epic Auroras Light Up Norway`s Skies
Post by: burntheships on January 17, 2014, 09:37:21 PM
Hey there Pegasus peeps!

Take a few minutes and step into these beautiful, amazing Auroras
photographed over snow topped mountain peaks, lovely lakes, and
sky high tree lines in Norway.

Cheers!

QuoteThese shimmering aurora boeralis were captured in the skies
near Nordreisa, Troms, Norway from August through November 2013

bts, WOW! WOW! WOW! What a marvelous demonstration of the Auroras! I normally don't give these much attention or thought, because they are a common part of " normal stuff on this planet". But, in this case, and with the music, it is a very powerful presentation of the presence of this phenomenon.

There are two very specific other views in these nearly 5 minutes that are also very interesting.  One is the prominence of streaks of "white light" across the sky. With my 27 inch screen, I cannot see them all, but in one complete view, I counted 15. Some streaks are going down, some are going up, and others are going side-ways. What do you think those might be? (besides meteors, which do not usually go up in our view)

The other "view" is that which is clearly seen above and beyond the Auroras - the nearby parts of our own galaxy. It is hard to give the Auroras close attention, and at the same time really see the flood of viewable stars in the galactic plane. So, I just viewed it several times, and part of the time watched the Auroras, and then would just watch our view of space!!

Thanks for posting this!!

Rdunk,

Thanks, and  an interesting question, I did notice these but
having a busy day then did not give much thought yet.

I will look again! And, hopefully some other peeps
here will weigh in with an idea too!

Yes, I also did notice the constellations,
thought that one of them was The Milky Way;
they are really beautiful when captured in time lapse!
