WARNING: Robots Will Kill All Humans In 30 Years.
Seems maybe the Terminators may be coming soon ! :o
Alex welcomes Mike Adams of NaturalNews.com to discuss the coming singularity and AI Robots who will decide humans are no longer relevant and begin the mass extermination.

As long as they have an off switch I think we will be OK. :)
They'll all be infected with malware and we'll just end up having to care for them like every other sick computer. :P Even the terminator robot may not have fared well if a can of spray paint was applied to it's face.
Hopefully ArMap...
Or we may need one of PWMs Lasars to sort them out !
or to have disappeared to another world by then in a PRC saucer. :)

At the rate of intelligence growth.thirty years sounds about right.they should be sencient in about ten years.then the intelligence gradient will shoot skyward.
I really suggest you guys aqquiant yourselves with the works of Issac Asimov.
he predicted all of this, and more, including;
Robot mayors, excelent & impartial decision makers.
Robot cops, who could not, WOULD not, harm a human, or, allow any human to harm another. They had to be specially programmed to accept violence as part of human behavior :P
Telepathic robots, they caused all kinds of mischief ;)
Eventually the robots would separate into 2 groups.
one group felt they should follow their programming implicity and protect humans at all costs, mostly from each other, but also from the second group, who saw their role also as 'caring' for humans, but literally by controlling their lives from start to finish.
There were bitter high-tech wars fought between the 2 groups, lasting many 1000's of years.
Eventually yet another race developed; Telepathic Humans :o
And these got involved with the robot groups, and then a 3rd party entered the fray.
Gaia, the telepathic, harmonic, planet.
And if you want to know how THAT ended, you will have to read some of his 350 books, so there :P
His 3 laws, and Amy's TAP laws, are virtually the same 8)
Oh, yes, he also wrote 'The Bicentennial Man' and 'I Robot'.......
P.S. he often referred to the 'frankenstein complex' when discussing human-robot interactions.... ::) please be aware of that when thinking :)
...I would like to add just one thing.
TWICE i have been almost killed by robots, i realise fully that they were not in any way sentient, just a broken wire is enough to send one flying at you at over 30 feet a second, only my quick reflexes saved me both times ;)
But if you have several robots in one area, all communicating via radio (Asimov used sub'ether, much quicker) then they could detect a faulty robot & move to disable it before it could do harm.
Imagine if the tractor on your farm found you with a broken leg, recognised you, and took you to hospital.... :D

Rules exist to be broken.

Ahh, like natural laws perhaps?
Not easy to break, those ones....
Asimov saw very clearly that, not only to remove the frankenstein complex, but also to stop very intelligent robots from taking over, as G**gle is trying to do with it's 'skynet' AI program, you would need a set of basic laws or it will fall apart.
To do that without any set of LAWS is COMPLETE MADNESS :o
That applies to humans, robots aliens, all of us.....
I will tell you something about natural law.
One of them is Ohm's law. Fairly simple, but it took me 30 years to break it, and with a lot of help from journals of great scientists.
Asimov was clearly also one of these. he was more of a social scientist i guess....
Another one was Lenz's law (or back emf) it took Thane Hein only 10 years to break that one.
But if you have no simple natural laws governing human behavior then what do you have?
Not much, IMHO

;D
Ellirium,
;D too right my freind!
PWM
Was that the foundation series? Have them in a tote some where ;D
Havent read them in years
Bless Back
I think we need a "DIY Robot Sabatage" thread,
just in case ...
;)
same thing you use for break ins
raid that shoots 20 feet ... a steady stream of that stuff will put just about anything out of commision
and it's quiet
;)

Yep, and there was a 4th book written after he died, think it was Greg Bear, a stage name if ever i heard one. But it was a good sequel :)
Asimov started with his robot stories in the '30's, he actually coined the term 'robotics' and was the idea behind U.S. Robots, yes that company exists ::)

Raid will only kill them if there is a bug in the computer.............
hah hah Deuem..
really i don't want any hand guns around so i have a can of raid at each entrance..
that stuff IS lethal... and no one would expect you to use it for protection
aim for the eyes
