My Tom Cats been absent for 7 whole days, should I worry? :(
Been in a new house for 3 months, and the most he's gone before is 4 nights...
He's about 1 year old and started coming into his own about two months ago, if you get me ..
I miss him. I've raised three females before but this is my first Tom, he'll still know where is home is, right?
Out painting the town red! Leaving his scent for the ladies is one activity but here in my area cats are being eaten by coyotes! So I don't know about your area. My female is not allowed out of the house due to having to bury 5 previous felines! Good luck.

I hope so..

No predators here, thanks.
It's spring mate. He's prolly just out shaggin.
Yes, I wold worry. 7 days for a cat, Tom or not is way beyond a normal limit. He is either lost, went back to the old place, someone else has him or he has passed on. I would give all about the same odds. I would go out looking for him. Good luck, D.
I agree with D. Cats are pretty resourceful about finding "new" families. It's quite possible that he's chowing at someone else's expense. My toms are snipped and indoors. Even Sam, who was out on his own for about a year. Lots of foreclosures in our area left some pets homeless. We help them as best we can.

Sorry to hear your kitty is missing. I've a soft spot for the felines. I'd be worried too.
He is probably OK, you have to remember that nobody owns a cat, it's the cat that allows the humans to take care of him. ;)
Last week a kitten entered my brother's apartment by the loft (he lives in a 4th floor), nobody knows from where she came.
Oh dear, Sinny, I'm sorry. Cats have territories, some large some small. Toms do like to dine around, as well as sleep around, so he may be checking out options. Meditate and imagine that you are sending him a homing beacon along with a request to check in.
Meantime, call local animal control/humane shelters, and see if he has been picked up. Make a flyer, walk around the neighborhood and ask about him. Call and listen, to see if perchance, he got shut in a shed somewhere.
May kitty be home soon.

I had a tom that disappeared for over a month... I was sure he was gone. Then one day he shows up, fat and sassy, so someOne fed him. And yes, if he was out and about and came back for three months, he knows where home is.
Now I won't say that he IS ok or that he WILL return, just that there is a good probability. Don't decide he's gone, but be prepared if he doesn't return. There is traffic to consider too.
I know the worry and am sorry that You have to experience it. :'(
Thanks for the replies guys, I'll think of him tonight, and take some action tomorrow..I'm starting to wish I gave him the snip immediately..
My wifes cat just had a liter of 4 last night, take your pick. So we now have 4 more mouths to feed. Want a Chinese cat?
sinny
good luck..but tom cats are notorius ...
can i tell ya a little story?
when we were growing up my youngest sister had a big yellow tom ..
we rode a bus to school and one day there was a big yellow cat along the road..dead
we told her we saw it and since her cat had been gone a couple of weeks we figured it was him
she was about 10 and where we saw the cat on the road was more than a mile away
it was january and colddddd.... she walked the whole way up and got him and brought him home
so she could bury him
we ask her how she got him
she said she dragged him by the tail
we of course..being the older siblings told her that he probably was not dead
and her bouncing his headon the road the whole way killed him...kids are mean
anyway that dead frozen cat lay in the wheelbarrow behind the house (covered up , of course)
till the ground thawed and our mother saw it..she really flipped and said go bury that cat
well saturday was the day she was going to dig the hole and have the service for him
friday night..her cat came home
hahahahahahah.. really he did....he was fine.. we never found out where he had been but
he was in good shape
and yeah we did bury the other cat...
sooooooooooo don't give up hope..cats really do have 9 lives

Miss Callie's kittens have two extra mommies. Gypsy and Shasta have decided that the kittens are theirs too. Sam is three times Gypsy's size. She went after him because he was in the hallway. Shasta keeps rearranging the babies. I had to retrieve little Sky Otter from under the couch yesterday. Cats are an adventure.
Shasta (not the quadruped)
Is he chipped Sinny?
IF he is, and the information is up to date then no news is good news.
There are predators of course, foxes and even some people.
The big advantage of getting a cat from the cats protection is that they come pre snipped and chipped...
I wish you the best of luck, and I would advise you go looking for him.
Soon after we got Blackjack he ran away and stayed away for two weeks, BUT it turned out that he was close by.
I got him back after 2 weeks, but it's a long story involving electronic surveillance and a whole lot of fardling around, but I wanted my cat back...
FB.
Sinny,
Hope your Tom cat shows up soon.
Over the years I have had a few, cats
are always going to be having a mind
of their own...to say the least!
As Deuem said, the cat is in charge!
I once had a dearly loved Tom; all
members of the family loved him to such
a degree that when he finally did take
leave one time after a move, my sister
was so concerned she actually found
him, and brought him home! She was
out one day and saw him wandering around,
lured him into the car and drove him right over.
Only thing, it was not our Tom cat! Looked
very similar....then she was so upset she had
abducted another cat! lol...
Cats are very resourceful! Remember,
they have nine lives so the odds are with
the cat being safe somewhere.
;)
Well, I'm on me way back from work.. I'll take a dander around the local area and hope I come across him :)
