Title: Cities on Mars?
Post by: Eighthman on April 10, 2014, 06:33:08 PM

Is this stuff real?  Maybe the unfocused blocky shapes are just from JPEG.

Always best to get the original photo so we can see for ourselves

The "buildings" that make up the supposed "city" are only two pixels wide and/or tall, too small to get any meaningful image.

Here are the original images, available here (http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/).

(Another "Mars Anomaly" item posted in the "General Discussion" area??)

The pic for this is not so good, but such is the order for using Rover pics. Of course we are drawn in to focus on the white structures of the possible city. But there is more on that hill, to our right of the white structures, with one in front of the white structures, just down the hill a little way.  - a possible dome and at least 4 separate other structures. If we want to use our imagination, the structure down the hill has the appearance of a circular shape, with a possible raised dome- it is partially hidden by some sort of ground rise.

I will post another pic with these other objects line-located.

This is from the Navcams, those images are supposed to be used for navigation, that's why they have a wider lens than the Mastcams.

Those do not look much different from the other small hills.

"Why not this one"?

Because it obviously has a more natural look than those I noted.

I asked that because, when I looked at the image you posted I thought the leftmost "object" that you pointed out in the image (unless I misunderstood it) looks like the hill closer to the camera.
