Title: Operation Crossbow
Post by: Elvis Hendrix on May 13, 2014, 11:12:37 AM
I caught an amazing BBC documentary by chance yesterday and thought id
share. Unfortunately its not available on youtube. What I thought was very
interesting was the achievement of 3D images using a 60% overlap of two
2D photos! I wondered if if would be applicable to viewing Luna images when
  anomaly hunting?
Any way if you get a chance to see the documentary, watch it, Its fascinating.

Operation Crossbow: How 3D glasses helped defeat Hitler

Newly released photographs show how a team of World War II experts disrupted Nazi plans to bombard Britain - with the help of 3D glasses like those in modern cinemas.

Hitler's deadly V-1 and V-2 missiles were early but effective weapons of mass destruction - unmanned flying bombs which brought terror to southern England.

But their impact could have been all the more devastating - costing thousands more lives, lengthening the war and threatening the D-Day landings - were it not for the fact that British intelligence worked in three, rather than two, dimensions.

One of the Royal Air Force's most significant successes came with Operation Crossbow, when it tracked down, identified and destroyed many of the V-weapons which could have prolonged the war.

It did so by meticulously photographing the landscape of occupied Europe in a way that allowed officers to study every contour.

Now the pictures have been brought to life using computer graphics in a BBC documentary thanks to research by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland.

During the war, the images were painstakingly analysed by a team of photographic interpreters - known as PIs - at RAF Medmenham in Buckinghamshire.

Their secret weapon was a stereoscope - a simple Victorian invention which brought the enemy landscape into 3D.

Working on the same principles as modern-day 3D glasses, it allowed the PIs to measure height, especially of unidentified new structures - such as rockets and their launch sites.

This technique was to prove decisive, and it saved thousands from the V-missile barrage.

The Spitfire is well-known for the role it played in the Battle of Britain, but less celebrated is its contribution to this crucial phase of the conflict.

A photographic interpreter spotted the missile in the top-centre-left of this picture

Pilots from the Photographic Reconnaissance unit, created in 1940, risked their lives by flying unarmed over Europe to take tens of millions of photographs, generating 36 million prints.

To make the 3D effect work, images had to be captured in carefully-plotted sequences which would overlap each other by 60% so everything would stand up when viewed through the stereoscope.

It made the job of the pilots - who, in addition, had to avoid enemy fire - an especially skilled and arduous one. Flying at 30,000ft, they were unarmed because of the weight of the five cameras carried on each Spitfire.

But it is a role of which 88-year-old Jimmy Taylor, a former reconnaissance pilot and the only survivor from the squadron, remains immensely proud.

"It was the best job in the RAF," he says. "We flew the most beautiful aeroplane, the fastest of its day.

We had no guns, no bullets, so I didn't kill anyone. Physically, there's nothing left of the air fights, nothing left of the bombing - but the photographs are still with us, and they're still useful."

Arguably, the squadron's crowning moment came with Operation Crossbow.

It began in 1942, when a Spitfire flying over Peenemunde in north-eastern Germany spotted an airfield with three concrete-and-earth circles.

Initially, PIs studying the photos thought nothing of them.

In fact, Peenemunde was a vast research centre developing the V-missiles which the Nazis believed would win them the war.

This plan was disrupted, however, in 1943, when British intelligence had managed to bug a conversation between two captured German generals about the weapon.

British spy planes scoured Europe and PIs were ordered to find clues.

Using 3D, a PI managed to spot an upright tube in one of the circles at Peenemunde. From its shadow, the PIs deduced that it was a rocket some 14m high.

Geoffrey Stone, now 92, worked as a PI at Medmenham and says being able to view the images in three dimensions was crucial.

"You needed to be good at paying attention and have the ability to concentrate - there was so much you had to infer from small details," he recalls.

"We would work late into the evening, but we didn't complain. There was no other way of telling what was going on in central Europe."

Furthermore, alarming photos revealed a network of bunkers in France. The "heavy sites", as they became known to the British, were within range of London.

Reconnaissance flights were sent to investigate, with some daredevils flying as a low as 30m to get the clearest possible images. Back in Medmenham, the PIs correctly identified these as launch platforms.

On 17 and 18 August 1943, 500 bombers set off to destroy Peenemunde and the heavy sites. Crews were left in little doubt of the importance of the mission and told they would have to go back if the sites were not eliminated.

These raids disrupted the V-2 programme and killed senior Nazi scientists.

Production of the V-weapons was relocated to Poland and Germany - out of range of Spitfires. A mountainside in Thuringia, central Germany, was turned into a factory with 60,000 slave labourers.

With this site impenetrable to bombers, the only solution for the British lay in finding and wiping out launch sites in northern France. The French Resistance passed on details of possible sites for the RAF to photograph.

PIs scoured the images for evidence of concealed ramps. Sure enough, woods full of new buildings were soon detected. In total, RAF Medmenham identified 96 "ski sites" - so called because each had a long building that looked like a ski.

In late 1943, the photos made it clear that the Nazis were on the verge of launching a bombardment of southern England. With the planning of D-Day well under way, the timing could not have been worse.

Operation Crossbow was launched late 1943 and bombing of the ski sites began two days before Christmas.

The bombardment was effective but it was not enough to halt the missile programme altogether.

The V-1 - known as the doodlebug - landed in London in the summer of 1944, bringing terror to the capital. The Germans were using less conspicuous launch sites, and brought missiles out at the last moment.

But these sites were identified by PIs who spotted scarring on the land caused by the jets' booster motors dropping off. These sites were targeted and the doodlebug barrage was limited.

The last V-1 landed on 7 September 1944. The next day, however, the first V-2 crashed in Chiswick, west London. Because it was silent, offering no warning, there was no defence against it.

Since the V-2 was mobile, bombers directed by RAF Medmenham attacked the supporting infrastructure such as roads and railways. In the end, the advancing allied armies over-ran the launch sites.

By the time they were finally halted, the V-weapons had claimed some 9,000 lives - but it could have been many more.

The Germans planned to launch up to 2,000 V-1s every day and, had they been successful, the path of the war could have been altered.

Much of the aerial photography featured in Operation Crossbow was discovered through the research of Allan Williams, curator of The National Collection of Aerial Photography, part of RCAHMS.

While the collection contains millions of images, only a small percentage have so far been digitised and catalogued - but Williams says they tell the story of one of the war's most decisive episodes.

"The British always used 3D and the Germans didn't," he says. "What this meant was that the British could make enemy territory come to life.

"Without this photographic intelligence - which was created at remarkable speed - the Germans could have launched potentially devastating attacks on Britain before D-Day that could have easily changed the outcome of the war."

I can't help but take the info with a pinch of salt, on two accounts:

1) Your documentary is from the British Brainwashing Corp.
2) Hitler was an agent of the British crown.

Cool science tho.

What constitutes as 'hard evidence'?

Quote

Greg Hallett's provocative book "Hitler Was A British Agent" depicts war as a ghoulish illusion conjured by occult magicians in order to gradually degrade, destroy and eventually enslave humanity in world government.

Hallett's claim that Hitler was a "British" agent is based on the testimony of a shadowy network of retired intelligence agents. While he fails to provide documentary proof, Hallett does offer persuasive circumstantial evidence.

For example, Adolph Hitler was in England in 1912-1913, a fact supported by his sister-in-law's book: "The Memoirs of Bridget Hitler"(1979). Historians apparently have ignored this startling information. (If Hallett is right, historians have sanitized Hitler and made him more credible than he actually was.)

Hallett says Hitler spent February to November 1912 being brainwashed and trained at the British Military Psych-Ops War School at Tavistock in Devon and in Ireland. His sister-in-law describes him as completely wasted when he came to them immediately afterward.

"War machines need war and [that means they need] funded, trained and supported double agents to be their patsies, their puppets and their puppet enemies," Hallett says. (38)

Hallett's book is mostly useful as an alternative paradigm. (Usually we cannot recognize the truth because it doesn't pass our filters i.e. our "education.") When Hallett says "British", he means Illuminati, the Masonic cult of super rich bankers who control an interlocking network of megacartels. This cult is based in the City of London but uses England, the US, Israel and other countries as sock puppets.

Hallett's claim would clarify many improbable events in the Second World War. For example, why did Hitler let 335,000 Allied soldiers escape at Dunkirk? This quixotic gesture was explained as a peace overture, but surely England would have been more attentive if its army were in Nazi POW camps.

The Nazi triumph in Feb. 1940 was like a knock-out in the first round. The Illuminati did not intend for the match to end so soon, nor for the Nazis to win.

In the summer of 1940, when the Nazis controlled Europe, and Britain was destitute, Nazi Military Intelligence Chief (Abwehr) Admiral Wilhelm Canaris told Romanian Foreign Minister Michael Sturdza to stay neutral because England would win the war. He also gave this message to Spanish dictator Franco.

"Hitler Was A British Agent" by Greg Hallett
Hallett's theory also explains why Hitler, supposedly the arch enemy of Jewish bankers, acted like he didn't know the Rothschilds controlled England (and America) when this was practically common knowledge. If Hitler had been for real, he wouldn't have tried to accomodate these countries. England would have been invaded and conquered before Russia was attacked.

Hallett's hypothesis explains 1)Why Hitler was able to expand into the Rhineland etc. without fear of retaliation. 2) Why the Nazi war machine was financed and built by the Bank of England and a Who's Who of Anglo American corporations controlled by the Illuminati. 3) Why Hitler never sealed the Mediterranean at Gibraltar; and why the Spanish dictator Franco remained neutral, despite the huge debt he owed the Fascists for help during the Civil War. 4) Why I.G. Farben headquarters in Frankfurt was never bombed. This became CIA headquarters (the Illuminati like to economize on rent.)

It would explain why Hitler gave his ridiculous racial policies priority over actually winning the war. He could have enlisted millions of Slavs (and even many Jews) in overcoming Communist Russia. Instead, he made them implacable enemies willing to fight to the death.

We could question why the Nazis never figured out that their communications were compromised; why Hitler didn't conquer the oil fields of Russia and the Middle East when he had the chance etc. but you get the picture. The fix was in.

Who Was Hitler?
The biggest improbability of all is that an Austrian tramp, street cleaner and gay prostitute could become the Chancellor of Germany. Hitler joins a long list of obscure blackmailable figures who have been catapulted to world prominence with the aid of an unseen hand.

Hallett writes that Hitler's grandfather was Nathan Meyer Rothschild. Maria Schickelgruber, Hitler's grandmother, was a maid in the Rothschild's Vienna mansion when his father, Alois was conceived "in fear" in a satanic ritual rape. The Rothschilds could only marry within their extended family so they had illegitimate children who functioned as anonymous agents.

(Apparently this is a pattern with the Illuminati. Bill Clinton is rumored to be a Rockefeller.)

His grandmother received child support from a Jewish businessman who was probably an intermediary.

Rothschild's son, Alois Hitler's third marriage was to his niece, Klara, who became Hitler's mother. His father was overbearing and his mother over- compensating. Hitler became destitute at age 18 when his mother died, and he lived in a men's hostel that was a honey pot for homosexuals.

In 1912, Hitler traveled to England for training as an Illuminati agent. This "training" ranged from imbibing a sense of Germany's destiny to learning how to mesmerize audiences.

It also included trauma brainwashing. The "alter's" consciousness is shattered by witnessing savage atrocities and suffering sexual abuse, all of which is filmed. Then the various fragments of consciousness are programmed and can be accessed with special code words. (Read Fritz Springmeier and Cisco Wheeler for a detailed description of Illuminati mind control techniques. )

Hitler returned to Germany in May 1913 and enlisted in the German army. During World War One, he served as a runner and was captured twice by the English. On both occasions, he was spared execution by an "angel" in British intelligence.

According to Hallett, Hitler was a bisexual who enjoyed having women defecate and urinate on him. He also had undersized genitals and only one testicle. (Many women whom he courted committed suicide. The love of his life was his 17-year-old half-niece Geli whom he murdered in 1931 when she became pregnant by his chauffeur.)

Implications
History is unfolding according to a long-term plan drawn up by the Illuminati. Wars are plotted decades in advance and orchestrated to achieve the following goals: destruction of nations and natural elites, depopulation, degradation, power and profit. You can bet the next World War will fit this pattern.

Essentially a small satanic cult of the superrich preys on mankind. Put yourself in their shoes. The nations of the world owe you trillions based on money you printed for the cost of paper and ink. The only way you can protect this "investment" is to enslave the debtors through a disguised world dictatorship, using sophisticated methods of social and mind control. This is the true meaning of the War on Terror. It's not directed at "Muslim terrorists." It is directed at you and me.

According to Hallet, Joseph Stalin was another Illuminati "agent of war" who attended the Tavistock Psyche Ops training school in 1907. Clifford Shack has suggested that Stalin was also an illegitimate offspring of a Rothschild.

Hallett says Hitler's death was faked (a double was killed) and Hitler escaped to Barcelona where he lived until 1950, when he died of stomach cancer.

Greg Hallett is a maverick and his rambling book is full of repetition and digressions. I wouldn't swear by any of Hallett's claims as yet. But he deserves our thanks for presenting an alternative view of history that while far- fetched is more plausible than what supposedly transpired.

World War Two achieved all of the Illuminati's goals. Europe and particularly Germany was turned into a wasteland. So was Japan. Sixty million people were slaughtered. The Holocaust motivated Jews to establish the Rothschild's world government headquarters in Israel. Idealists and natural leaders on both sides were slaughtered. The nations were laden with debt and the bankers' vaults with filled with gold. The United Nations rose like a phoenix from the ashes. Hiroshima cast a pall of terror over the world.

The scene was set for the next act...the Cold War!

Sinny I wouldn't be surprised if there is some truth there.
A very pertinent question in that piece was " why did hitler not close off the Mediterranean at Gibraltar?"  That does shout very loud to me.
Also the mere fact that Germany grew from a broken country with Hyper-inflation,
to having the largest most powerfull military in the world in only a handful of years!

It's not that he didn't try, he was entirely incapable of.  Gibralter of that era was one, if not THE, most heavily defended fortress harbors of WWII.  Germany had a 1940 Operation "Felix" planned to storm the fortress, but had to pull out troops to throw into the Eastern Front meat grinder.  The operation was postponed, but with Allies advancing and Germany collapsing, Germany never had a prime opportunity come up again.  It was definately a goal, but one of many never met.

Post WWI, yes.  But a source of national pride was how well they pulled themselves out of that and actually had a strong economy within 10-15 years.  Absorbing Austria helped, militarily as well since they converted Austrian tropps to German ones.  There's 4 instant Corps right there.  This was all over a span of about 21 years.  With a Dictator at the helm funneling the economy into the Military, it is impressive, but not head scratchingly so.

Hitler's Plan for
The Invasion of Gibraltar
November 1940

Führer's Directive

CHEFSACHE
FÜHRER'S HEADQUARTERS November 12, 1940.

TOP SECRET MILITARY

The Führer and Supreme Commander of the Wehrmacht WFSt/Abt. L(I) No. 33 356/40 g. K. Chefs

By officer only

DIRECTIVE No. 18

The measures of the High Commands which are being prepared for the conduct of the war in the near future are to be in accordance with the following guiding principles:

1. Relations with France

The aim of my policy toward France is to cooperate with this country in the most effective way for the future prosecution of the war against England. For the time being France will have the role of a "nonbelligerent power" which will have to tolerate German military measures on her territory, in the African colonies especially, and to give support, as far as possible, even by using her own means of defense. The most pressing task of the French is the defensive and offensive protection of their African possessions (West and Equatorial Africa) against England and the de Gaulle movement. From this task the participation of France in the war against England can develop in full force.

Except for the current work of the Armistice Commission, the discussions with France which tie in with my meeting with Marshal Petain will initially be conducted exclusively by the Foreign Ministry in cooperation with the High Command of the Wehrmacht.

More detailed directives will follow after the conclusion of these discussions.

2. Spain and Portugal

Political measures to induce the prompt entry of Spain into the war have been initiated. The aim of German intervention in the Iberian Peninsula (code name Felix) will be to drive the English out of the Western Mediterranean.

For this purpose:

a) Gibraltar should be taken and the Straits closed;

6) The English should be prevented from gaining a foothold at another point of the Iberian Peninsula or of the Atlantic islands.

For the preparation and execution of the undertaking the following is intended:

Section I:

a) Reconnaissance parties (officers in civilian clothes) will conclude the requisite preparations for the operation against Gibraltar and for the taking over of airfields. As regards camouflage and cooperation with the Spaniards they are bound by the security measures of the Chief of the Foreign Intelligence Department.

b) Special units of the Foreign Intelligence Department in disguised cooperation with the Spaniards are to take over the protection of the Gibraltar area against English attempts to extend the outpost area or prematurely to discover and disturb the preparations.

c) The units designated for the action will assemble in readiness far back of the Franco-Spanish border and without premature explanation being given to the troops. A. preliminary alert for beginning the operation will be issued 3 weeks before the troops cross the Franco-Spanish border (but only after conclusion of the preparations regarding the Atlantic islands).

In view of the limited capacity of the Spanish railroads the Army will mainly designate motorized units for the operation so that the railways remain available for supply.

Section II:

a) Directed by observation near Algeciras, Luftwaffe units at a favorable moment will conduct an aerial attack from French soil against the units of the English fleet lying in the harbor of Gibraltar and after the attack they will land on Spanish airports.

b) Shortly thereafter the units designated for commitment in Spain will cross the Franco-Spanish border by land or by air.

Section III:

a) The attack for the seizure of Gibraltar is to be by German troops.

b) Troops are to be assembled to march into Portugal in case the English should gain a foothold there. The units designated for this will march into Spain immediately after the forces designated for Gibraltar.

Section IV:

Support of the Spaniards in closing the Strait after seizure of the Rock, if necessary, from the Spanish-Moroccan side as well.

The following will apply regarding the strength of the units to be committed for Operation Felix:

Army:

The units designated for Gibraltar must be strong enough to take the Rock even without Spanish help. Along with this a smaller group must be available to support the Spaniards in the unlikely event of an English attempt at a landing on another part of the coast.

For the possible march into Portugal mobile units are mainly to be designated.

Luftwaffe:

For the aerial attack on the harbor of Gibraltar forces are to be designated which will guarantee abundant success.

For the subsequent operations against naval objectives and for support of the attack on tlie Rock mainly dive bomber units are to be transferred to Spain.

Sufficient anti-aircraft artillery is to be allocated to the army units including its use against ground targets.

Navy:

U-boats are to be provided for combating the English Gibraltar squadron, and particularly in its evacuation of the harbor which is to be expected after the aerial attack.

For support of the Spaniards in closing the Strait the transfer of individual coastal batteries is to be prepared in cooperation with the Army.

Italian participation is not envisaged.

The Atlantic islands (particularly the Canaries and the Cape Verde Islands) will, as a result of the Gibraltar operation, gain increased importance for the English conduct of the war at sea as well as for our own naval operations. The Commanders in Chief of the Navy and of the Luftwaffe are to study how the Spanish defense of the Canaries can be supported and how the Cape Verde Islands can be occupied.

I likewise request examination of the question of occupation of Madeira and of the Azores as well as of the question of the advantages and disadvantages which would ensue for the naval and for the aerial conduct of the war.

The results of this examination are to be presented to me as soon as possible.

It's my understanding that there was a fair amount of Itallian bombing of Gibralter, but it's not called "The Rock" for nothing.  Not much damage was done, the fortifications so hardened.  The Vichy French also made some attemps, they did damage around the fortress, but never made real headway.
