Title: BPAs new news

Something new about BPA

It has been found that some thermal paper has substantial amounts of BPA and other substances that can mimic estrogen when they are introduced into the human body. Some of these chemicals like BPA have recently been found to be readily absorbed through the skin. With this in mind it is alarming to find that one type of application for thermal paper saturated with BPA is the use of it for receipts. Yes receipts, like you get every time you go to the store and buy something. It has been shown that just one contact with a paper that has BPA on it can significantly raise levels in the body.
BPAs have been shown to increase the risk of different types of cancer as well as contributing to cardiovascular disease and the development of brain and reproductive abnormalities.

This link is to consumerreports.org it's a good article covering much of this topic.

So it looks like a good idea to wear rubber gloves when we go shopping or opt for just an e-receipt  ;). Dang! What next? Next thing you know we'll find out living is harmful to your health!  :( And so it is! From the moment we're born we are subject to harmful things trying to get into us and live off us at our expense. The last thing we need is harmful things being put upon us by other humans.

Just passing along info for health. WhatTheHey

Note:
(BPA) is a carbon-based synthetic compound with the chemical formula (CH3)2C(C6H4OH)2 belonging to the group of diphenylmethane derivatives and bisphenols, with two hydroxyphenyl groups. It is a colorless solid that is soluble in organic solvents, but poorly soluble in water and has been in commercial use since 1957.

Hah...no worries the food is probably worse for you. WE all know how much these companies care for your health and well being.  ::)

Wonder how much BPA is in all the packaging for lunch meats, cheeses etc. They seemed to only change the plastic bottles to something a bit more safe.

If thermal paper is that bad then they should alert the people working with it every day, as while a normal consumer can get maybe 2 or 3 of those in one day, the people working with the printers handle hundreds of those per day, so they should have extremely high levels of BPA.

BPA is everywhere, and it will come out one product at a time in a country where hiding dangers to protect corporate profits is the only driving force behind any tangible change.

Im sure some have heard of this, but as a business owner who does sometimes north of 250 transactions in a weekend, it is probably a good thing that I havent written or printed a receipt since 2011.

www.squareup.com

Receipts by email or text..wham bam and done....and the system has(knock on FSC approved wood) never missed or incorretly printed a receipt in those 3+ years.

Cool article WTH, thanks amigo.
