This thread is one i have wanted to start for a looong time ;D
"Hey i thought i would post some pictures from my vacation."
I have such amazing pics from my travels, and i would share them with you guys (not even on Farcebook Facebook or Twatter, er, Twitter )
So here ya go, 49 pics each with it's own story, and starting halfway through (as i am apt to do) we have 18 & 19, LOL
Most of these will amaze you, give me time to get the rest sorted, OK?
I will add a few pics each day until we reach 49 then add some new ones ;)
I would like to start with this one, which was quite spectacular, where a B-2 stealth bomber passed over my tent at about 6 PM, you hardly ever see these bggers flying in the daytime, but then i guess he had a long way to go?
Datestamp reads; 10:06:14 at 18:11 Enjoy!
Here it is in the lower left corner of the photo, i had little time to set up the camera, but the noise alone told me it was a military plane ;)
And here is a closeup, i beleive that a Deuem type analysis will show no extra field anomalies at this time, it was travelling on it's jet engines only, still climbing after takeoff from a military airbase north of Swindon.....
(Oh wow i need to clean that lens sometime, LOL)
Enjoy! the other 47 pics are on their way ;)
Over to you....
Awesome catch, Luke, say, were there any type of little green men looking out the windows, or corona discharge on the leading edges? LOL!
Looking forward to more...erm.....non typical vacation pics!
Cheers!
Dave
Like i said, each pic has it's own story, i hope to post about 3 a day 8)
Really great stuff there, Mr. PWM.
And merely coincidence and just so happened that a
B-2 stealth bomber targeted you was in sight... HA!
Except that THEY followed you back here and
are waiting for the rest of the story, as we are. :P
Is THIS why I was called out of my cave?
Or is something else afoot? ;)
Echoes of BigLindaSasquatchFootInMouth methinks :P
Eradicator
Greetings Citizens of the World:
PWM, we 'ran' the photo of the B-2,
and it appears that the co-pilot is holding
a picture of you with real-time coordinates...:P
Welcome back and we look forward to what transpires. ;)

We get the typical stuff from Buckley all the time. Noisy damn things. When we were living in west Denver we used to get the DPD chopper most every night. Yours is much most interesting.
Shasta
Yes it gets bloody surreal sometimes, i once had 2 f-16's fly past my house & they NEVER fly round here, LOL
I saw an in-flight refueling mission a few days later in that area, by the time i got the camera out, the F-16 had left, and the tanker was turning away from me, so i got a crappy pic...not worth posting....
OK so here we gooo...
Here is one of the original John Logie Bard prototypes called a 'televisor' it is the forerunner of the modern TV.
Aparently it had to be hooked up to the radio to recieve the first BBC broadcasts from crystal palace.
Yes, yes, i know, Farnsworth or whatever his name was, used the cathode ray tube etc etc, but this was still the first ever commercial TV so there :P
I believe it had a resolution of some 25 x 25 lines in red neon, which is why actors used to wear outrageously thick makeup so you could at least tell if it was a man or a woman, LOL. They got that idea from the silent movies, of course ;)
and here is a catalog showing the final production model and explaining how it worked (in a nutshell);

Now for something completely different, repro celtic art in a repro celtic roundhouse ;D

And finally, if anyone can tell me what this colourful contraption is?
I know what it is, i read the sign next to it :D
bale machine for making hay bales?
Our guess would be an old-timey threshing machine... ;D

Correct! ;D 8)
it's a threshing machine, usually run from a traction engine, about 1830 i guess...
Ah yes, where was i?
You can't visit a place without sampling some of the local produce, can you?
And while sampling your brew, you can admire this neat little steam traction engine, i still don't know who made it or if it actually works, seems it was made by a local man, and he asked to keep it covered & not let peeps handle it (a sensible precaution)
So here it is, Base Camp ;D
(http://www.thelivingmoon.com/inventors_group/images/ODD/vacat/va7.JPG)
And off to explore the area....

That building is made from waste slate at the slate mine in...i forgot, but it's somewhere in the lake district, this is the start of my training run up 'Haystacks' :D
At the top of which is great Gable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Gable)
Wasn't outrageously thick makeup a Tammy Fae Bakker thing? Oops! Did I really say that? How catty of me.
Shasta
Here we are again, this is a quaint little village somewhere in the cotswolds, nice place...
This may look like a forest fire, but it's just the sunset on the clouds, amazing, no?

Reading & cooking at the same time= burnt offerings ;D

Checking out the local architecture, now that is what a watering-hole should look like!
THIS is a Ford Zephyr from 1964, i used to have one, we were both 'made' in the same year.It was an automatic V6 with a single front seat & a column shift, i left it at Heathrow one day & both me & that car simply disappeared ::)...a long story....
...And this is a model of a car i used to have, a 1970's Mustang 'fastback'...it was like trying to drive a Scud missile, LOL, that car had a history all of it's own, worth a thread in itself 8)
Finally, a new look at how it should have been in the 1900's LOL;
Next up, Oxford, & some interesting buildings & artifacts ;)
Oops, it seems i forgot to post the pics from that hill. seem to have lost that file, so here it is again ;)

At the top, i had to lean into the ferocious wind at a crazy angle. If the wind had stopped then i would have fallen off! LOL
The pictures are amazing. Thank you for sharing them.
Shasta
We are only about halfway through, Shasta ;)
Did i post the Tanker flight? I guess not, the pic was crappy, but then again a Deuem analysis of the B-2 (or was it a B-3A?) showed little to no external field, i knew that already, since it was still busy climbing up to 'operational altitude' where it can switch on the new gadgets ;)
Later 8)
I really like the sunset picture. It reminds me of the pictures I took at Devil's Tower years ago. I want to take the grandkids camping there. Of course I want to take the grandkids lots of places. I got to see a lot of different places when we went with my dad on his work trips. I hauled my daughter all over the country when she was growing up, now it's time for the grandkids. At least my daughter shares driving duties with me now.
Shasta
Yes, it's also good to get children out into the country, away from the TV & Iphones for a while ::) let them appreciate the wonders of nature 8)
More pics on the way...
