Title: Mars Valve Co.
Post by: Vandalis on September 14, 2014, 12:35:08 PM
Hey all, this is a weird one.

I work at the Baxters factory here in Scotland, and as I was going about my work I reached over to get a hose that was mounted to the wall when I saw this strange symbol on the handle. Now ive worked here for 5 years and this is the first time I noticed this symbol. The handle covers were blue and the symbol is white. It can also be seen on the pipework in black.

This is how it looked to me:

As I searched for images I found one showing the chevron in red.  ;)

At first I was like, "woah! thats kinda odd?". I mean for a company that makes valves. Its got the 5 pointed star, the NASA type chevron in red, the word "MARS" and the 3 stripes.

What the hell was this doing right in front of me on a hose pipe at my work?

Then it got even better. Intrigued by this I looked them up online when I got home.  I was NOT expecting to see this as the main webage:

Mars/Space theme, almost Terminator like music, AND A UFO?

And in bold lettering the words: Take a good look   IT MAY BE YOUR FUTURE

Now im creeped out. There's no way this is all coincidence? This is a company that manufactures steel valves for all different purposes around the world. What are they doing with a website and logo like this?

This is what is says on there About page.

"Mars Valve Co. Ltd. is an ISO 9001 system-certified company, founded in 1997, manufactures high quality, cost effective stainless steel ball valves for variety of industry applications reaching worldwide markets. Our product range includes one-piece, two-piece, three-piece and flanged ball valves, and we can also be constructed to meet your specific application challenges.

We would specially introduce our new, advantage, and exclusive direct-mounting ball valves, the valves directly mounted to actuators, with no additional brackets and adapters required, provides easy and low cost automation, they are best of all, mated to pneumatic and electric actuators to produce the total final control elements.

Now I can understand for a company called "MARS" you might want a space or planet theme but this is a bit much.

What do you guys think?

According to one thread (possibly on ATS), you will see that chevron/A/V everywhere. Does anyone remember where that information is?

I think it's just a sales gimmick to make them stand out. There is a pretty big market on valves etc. They may have some more specialized valves for aerospace but looking at their product list it looks much the same as many other valve companies. IMO marketing gimmick.

Im not trying to say these guys are a part of anything sinister. I was just curious cos  it was at my work. Having seen these symbols  before it just seemed a little odd to me. lol

That is the thread ArMaP.

The chevrons look like triangular blimp like space craft to me. :P

Thor might have found who ordered the valves.
