Yup. We're conspiracy aware.
FWIW, we've had 3 internet outages here in the SW Missouri area tonight.
Oddly enough, cable TV and Cable supplied telephone both remained up and running. The net connection just vanished entirely.
I watched my cell phone drop tower connection and it stayed in 'search' mode for the same period my net connection was offline. All 3 times, they both came back up together for timing.

Today's list of 'problems'... FaceB00k seems to still be compromised... :P

About Downdetector (http://downdetector.com/about-us/#over-allestoringen)
We like to see Downdetector as the weatherman for the digital world: we detect when technology fails. Just like the weather, service interruptions and outages can't be predicted, and just like a weatherman, we can tell you what is going on.
More concretely, Downdetector offers a realtime overview of status information and outages for all kinds of services. We aim to track any service that its users consider vital to their everyday lives, including (but not limited to) internet providers, mobile providers, airlines, public transport and online services.
Downdetector is an independently owned and operated by Serinus42 BV (http://serinus42.com). Downdetector spawned from the notion that existing solutions did a poor job at informing the public. People who are affected by an on outage typically turn to their provider or the media for updates, but in fact they know best if there are any issues. Following that guiding principle, we have set up and expanded our service since April 2012. We will continue to drive future changes and improvements, as well as expand to other countries (please check the bottom of this page for a list of regions that we currently serve).
The title says "Satellites 'Out of Service'", but I didn't see any sign that this was a satellite problem. Did I miss something? ???

I really have no clue what caused the outages last night, except to say I have never seen anything like it before. I've seen my net go down, of course (sometimes it has seemed more down and up..lol) and cell service is up and down by it's nature. However, to be sitting stationary and with both status displays in view at once? It's incredible to see two totally unrelated and unconnected systems dump and restore in tandem and with the very same timing all three times. Then, to see similar things happening across the nation during the same period of time?
Well.. I can say with certainty, my internet and cell phone are not routing through satellites for initial service. I've used satellite service for both things at different times in the past and someone using a satellite has no doubt and can never forget the downsides that define it. Physical distance just causes some issues which cannot be entirely solved with technology.
Still.. this was awfully widespread and very pronounced for area impacted, if its all related? The sun has been quiet lately. No geostorms to wreak havok, and damn sure none at latitudes this far south. It seems there is a bit of a mystery then, unless someone else has the tech explanation by now?
Looks like there was a class M flare, but we won't get hit until the 19th.

The source of the info is from Holland from here AND HERE:

QuoteDowndetector's software selects and displays tweets related to problems. We can not guarantee the accuracy of those tweets. Although we constantly work to improve the selection algoritm, we can't guarantee that 'false positives' aren't displayed.
By displaying tweets that report issues, we do not claim that a company is suffering from an outage or any other kind of problem. By collecting and displaying reports from multiple sources, we allow visitors of our website to determine for themselves if a certain service is having issues. Visitors who need to know for sure if a company or service is having problems should contact this company directly.
Downdetector and its parent company Serinus42 are not associated with any service, corporation or organisation that we monitor
Hmmm ???
Now seeing "they AND them" work with Twitter to garner some info, it would be also be fair to say they also operate in English.
I could go and visit any English speaking country's forums and garner just about as much useful information in regards to how well the network is operating at any given time since people connected to the web since day dot.
I'm not trying to be a smartarse, but it's a mere fact people will complain when thing's don't work in their favor, either rightfully or un-rightfully.
Their form of measurement is biased to promote their service's. ???
