LIVING IN A WORLD GONE MAD
HarperCollins has produced at atlas for use in English-speaking schools in the Middle East that features a conspicuous omission. There's Gaza, and there's the West Bank. Jordan and Lebanon are accounted for. But...where is Israel?

I naively would have expected HarperCollins to say we weren't looking hard enough, or attribute the omission to a lack of space. But no:
Collins Bartholomew, the subsidiary of HarperCollins that specialises in maps, told The Tablet that including Israel would have been "unacceptable" to their customers in the Gulf and the amendment incorporated "local preferences".
So the Muslim countries have gone around the bend, and apparently they are taking the rest of us with them. It is now the business of map-makers to depict the globe not as it is, but as customers wish it to be. Well, if HarperCollins is interested, I've got some "local preferences" I would like to see incorporated in their next atlas. If we can solve the world's problems by the simple expedient of–literally–wiping troublesome regions off the map, I've got some suggestions I'd be happy to pass on.

HarperCollins apologises for 'offensive' omission of Israel from atlas and promises to pulp all remaining copies
Publishing giant HarperCollins has apologised for omitting Israel from an atlas and has vowed to destroy any remaining copies.
A spokesman said the company 'regrets' the omission from the Collins Middle East Atlas and has removed it from sale. All remaining stock will be pulped.
HarperCollins was criticised for not labelling the country on the map - bought by English-speaking schools in the majority-Muslim Gulf, while clearly marking Gaza and Jordan.
Collins Bartholomew, the subsidiary of HarperCollins, had told The Tablet that including Israel would have been 'unacceptable' to their customers in the Gulf and the amendment incorporated 'local preferences'.
But in a statement, a spokesperson told MailOnline: 'HarperCollins regrets the omission of the name Israel from their Collins Middle East Atlas.

Well, I guess Israel was erased from maps and from everything for a long long time else until 1947, when as a country they were re-established/recognized. My thought about this case is.......as muslims are abounding in many various work places around the world, I would imagine their workplace influence will continue to grow. And, with that growth, doncha think we should expect frequent such display of "erasing Israel"?
Of course, frequently at the podiums of the world, we hear much comment directly proclaiming the desire for "Israel/Israelis to be erased", not only from the maps but from the world. And, with Israel's best friend (the United States) seemingly backing off from that friendship, those at such podiums likely will be emboldened to pursue their desires to destroy Israel!!! ..............but they will not ever again succeed!!! :)
When you win a war you get to redraw the maps. And that is exactly what happened after WWII. And WWI. National boundries have been pretty fluid in our history, worldwide, like it or not.
I wonder how Palestine would handle it if someone erased them
from the map, heck we know how they handle pencil drawings...

That was already done, after WWII.
