A very interesting piece Z! Watching the YouTube video, one does not see much other than a white piece on the screen, and even in "slow" we do see more, but not nearly as much as we would like.
It is a pretty odd UFO, as at least in the video, it gives the appearance of "shape changing" - a few times even having a slender elongated look, and then at other times it looks like two pieces of bright white.
Some here maybe do not have the YouTube slow motion, and this a video that really does need to be slowed down. So, here is Z's OP YouTube video, revised to "slow motion" (with the "slow motion" control box, one can select the desired speed, and start & stop)

The fact that it is a glowing blob that changes in brightness, changes shape and is near a volcano that is producing huge lighting effects puts this sighting right into my main line CRITTER category
It meets all the requirements of a Critter :D
The fact that this is recorded on at LEAST 5 different cameras from different locations means that this is NOT CGI
The surprise exclamations in that second video are genuine. These are best case UFO videos. They are clear, several angles several witnesses No blurry shaking cameras. Also the fact that the volcano is far off seems likely the UFO is fairly larges though we have no way to estimate size
Now here is another image from an eruption in Chile in 2011. Notice too the lightning but you will see plasma balls as well. So are these ball lighting? Critters being 'born'? or critters just sucking up the energy?

Yes Z. the video with 5 different witness videos is unusual and pretty neat. However the 1st video you posted is still the best for me in viewing the UFO features, what little we can see.
Regarding the lightening, I did get a screen shot of the UFO and lightening together - a bit of a struggle to get that, as a streak of lightning doesn't stick around very long! :) The lightning streak is at 3mins 46secs in the 5 witness photo. This pic is very distinct in its showing both the UFO and lightning seemingly right there, together within some reasonable distance.
Does anyone here know what is the science of "lightning in a volcano eruption cloud" - ie what would be its natural cause, and does it always occur with eruptions, or just with some of them??? Apparently, there seems to be no ground contact with this lightning pictured. What could it take for the UFO to create/cause such a lightning streak, assuming the right mix of charged particles were simply "just there"??
Looks like a "lot of power" in the streak of lightning - probably a huge charge.........if one (UFO) needs some sort of charge! :)

Well many will say the Plasma Critters are merely Ball Lightning
While Ball Lightning and Plasma Critters do look and act similar at times, they do appear to be separate events. They may even be related Who knows maybe ball lightning is a birth event :P

This is a rare Natural Weather Phenomenon called Ball Lightning! This video was taken in the Mountains about 15 to 20 Miles west of Boulder Colorado while some friends and I were camping at a mountain party, we are next to a fire so there are bits from the fire going in front of the camera.

Seems no one has a definitive answer yet. It seems that it has only been recorded on some volcanoes but then it is only in recent years that everyone has a camera handy.
I have not seen it in all videos.
I suspect that the electricity is static, created by certain mineral bits rubbing together...
Quartz has piezoelectric properties. Strike it and you get sparks. Quartz crystals have been used to make crystal radios and purified (man made) are the accurate clocks in computers.
During and before Earthquakes the rocks start moving and rubbing against each other. It has been shown that this can cause what are now known as Earthquake lights.
So it seems likely that when volcanoes erupt a massive amount of mineral dust would create a very large static charge Lightning really is basically static electricity created by ice crystals etc rubbing together... just a lot of it at one spot that creates those huge plasma arcs
Who knows? Maybe the Critter Orbs are born in this plasma discharge :D

While recorded sightings of ball lightning are numerous throughout history and prevalent now on YouTube, the use of spectrographs make this instance a telling achievement, and worthy of publication Friday in the journal Physical Review Letters.
One of the most grounded theories regarding ball lightning, proposed by John Abrahamson and James Dinniss of the University of Canterbury in Cristchurch, New Zealand, is that it's caused by lightning striking soil and turning its chemical contents into a vapor. That vapor is said to then condense into a ball of floating aerosol that glows with the heat of the soil's elements mixing with oxygen. Thanks to the spectrograph readings, this theory, first postulated in 2000, now seems all the more plausible.
The scientists -- Jianyong Cen, Ping Yuan, and Simin Xue -- were observing a thunderstorm when the ball lightning, 5 meters wide and lasting roughly 1.6 seconds, appeared before their eyes. They took their gear, which consisted of camera equipment alongside the slitless spectrographs, back to the lab where the team discovered that the orb contained the same elements found predominately in the soil: silicon, iron, and calcium. "The spectral analysis indicates that the radiation from soil elements is present for the entire lifetime of the BL [ball lightning]," the team's report concluded. The accompanying video recording of the occurrence has not been released at this time.
