Definition:

Doom Porn: Wild rantings about everything going to hell in a hand basket and running around like Chicken Little screaming "The Sky is Falling!!!"

Conspiracy Theory: A well researched presentation of an uncovered plot that has a basis in reality and can be documented

Conspiracy Nut: Someone who thinks EVERYTHING is a conspiracy, whether there is reason to believe so or not

Alternative Researcher: One who take time to dig deep into the Conspiracy theory and present the facts to be examined by the people


Which one of those would do the best at informing people?

I like to think I am an AR  but first something has to interest me .
I've turned some  kind of corner and am  just too old to care about everything like I used to..

and

the doom porn folks are beginning to make me want to totally ignore them after the first sentence.. they piss me off for being curious enough to even read the first sentence..sigh..
guess that's on me more than them

I'd like to think of myself as a conspiracy theorist and alternative reseacher.
Conspiracy theorist, without the deliberate negative connotations, is quite accurate in describing what we all do, well in most instances.

Alternative researchers should take the time to research the presented conspiracy theory, to acedemically verify or not.

I think the Doom Porners serve a positive and negative purpose.
All their doom porn spread across the web helps raise awareness of certain issue's for the massess. However it's what the massess do with the porn that is important, statistically, the critical thinkers amongst us are in the lessers numbers; and so the initial doom porn just multiplies by number of dumbasses it reaches.. However, that doom porn might have also helped wake up the critical thinkers, who may go on to achieve great things with their new found knowledge.

Does bug me to see Doom Porn presented by supposed alternative researchers though.. 

P.s, I think moaning about the recent posts lists is futile.
'User Based Content', clue is in the name. Having said that tho, there is a glitch in my recent unread posts button, it does not capture them all.

Otter, I don't see a category that I wholly fit into; those of you that have known me for quite some time (Z, you, A51, Bts, etc.) know that I am a seeker, of knowledge, truth, enlightenment, and share the road with all who journey with us...

Some days I'm a conspiracy theorist.  Some days I'm a conspiracy nut.  Some days I'm an alternative researcher.  I don't really buy into the doom porn.  I think I got enough of that from my mother and my grandmother when I was growing up.  And theirs was just over mundane stuff.  If my hair was in my eyes, it was the end of the world.   If I missed Mass, I was going to hell.  So I really can't get excited over the current doom porn.  I'm concerned about the state of the world,  but if it ends, my spirit will continue.

Doom Porn: No, I'm too much of an optimist for that. ;D

Conspiracy Theory: No, I'm too lazy for the "well researched" part (as most people that are considered conspiracy theorists but that just repeat other people's ideas).

Conspiracy Nut: No, and I don't even think most of the popular conspiracy theories are right.

Alternative Researcher: No, too much work. ;D That's why I prefer to treat one case at a time.

I agree, but I think the negative is much more active than the positive, so I would prefer them to disappear.

 ??? WHY is this an important question? Many of us are more than one category some are just better at it and some are more professional than others. You could add a "POT STIRRER" category and a silent viewer category as many people come here to read but don't post. Some people just like to stir the pot and get a rise out of others to see what sort of chaos they can muster.

The contents of pots generally require stirring.
And human reaction is something we should ideally have a firm grasp on.

Hi All! I think this a great question , if for no other reason than to force a bit of introspection, a nice break , from always looking out "there". I'm one of those that reads every thing here, but do not sign in very often.
I believe that I am a born conspiracy theorist, came out of the "womb"  over 68 years ago, sensing that nothing was as it "appeared" to be, and a "driven desire" to know. Not unlike what others have mentioned, I can certainly be"All the Above". I have no fear in letting you all judge me, because I like me and I tend to be very "biased" about me.

I do want to take a moment here to thank you all for being most kind and tolorent of me when I have posted, I have great respect for you all.  :)

I am a conspiracy nut in a few respects.

a}  I believe that Western/Five Eyes society was designed by, and is currently governed by, a core group of inter-generational psychopaths whose fundamental objective is the extermination of all carbon-based life.  As a country, America is the primary venue and vehicle of said psychopaths, although their organisation is not exclusively American in origin.  As a result of this belief, I have entirely rejected urban society in general terms, as I do not now believe that the cities were designed or intended to induce anything other than death or psychopathology in their inhabitants.

b}  I believe that government (at least in contemporary terms) is exclusively a special interest group for psychopaths, and that it exists in order to meet said psychopaths' own needs, not those of the public.

c}  The American government has no defensible or legitimate reason to continue to exist at this point, that I am aware of.  I no longer believe that it should be violently overthrown, but I absolutely do believe that the public should non-violently shun it, ostracise it, and ignore it, including rejecting most of its' laws and refusing to adhere to them.

d}  The only practical function served by the police and military at this point in any Western country, is the perpetuation of oppression and tyranny.  American police murderously oppress their domestic public, and the American military murderously oppress various populations abroad.  As a result, it is very difficult for me to view members of either group as anything other than the worst possible form of traitors to their entire species, irrespective of what their own intentions when joining might have been.  This is part of the reason why I do not condone war commemoration.  Modern Western militaries in no way fight for freedom; they fight for the exact opposite.  They work to keep the rest of humanity under the heel.

e}  The American Food and Drug Administration is a literally demonic organisation in my opinion, and should be abolished; as should the entirety of the American intelligence community.  I continue to believe that the Five Eyes intelligence community remains the most dire and persistent threat in existence, to not only the freedom, but potentially even the very survival, of the entire human race.

f}  As far as being the product of autonomous Islamic terrorism is concerned, the War on Terror does not legitimately exist.  ISIS are sponsored by the trans-Atlantic intelligence community, just as Al-Qaeda were before them.  The American intelligence community has also worked with India's spies in order to create a "Hindutva" or Hindu terrorist movement.  Apparently the intelligence community's goal is to discredit and thereby erradicate literally any form of theistic belief whatsoever.

So yeah.  My perspective at this point, probably isn't exactly what you'd call moderate.

I'm an alternative researcher but only in a couple of subjects.  The rest is just me being interested in conspiracy theories and fringe science, politics etc.

I always believed that there was more out 'there' than what we were being told. I just couldn't define what 'it' was. What drove me I guess, from the time I was a little kid, was my imagination. I believed, and still do that I was different than everyone else, that I thought differently, that my spirit was special. Unique is the word I think. Not better, just different. I didn't know everything and that is what bothered me, that I didn't know and some did. I suppressed this all my life because I had to fit in, not rock the boat sort of... But arriving here at Prc, I've learned more and more...some good some bad. Some I don't care about (old age does that) prioritize is the word. Doom and gloom doesn't interest me, so I shove it aside, looking for the unknown...I want to KNOW!

  The list of doom promoters is getting longer.  They are getting easier to recognize.


But through all of this chaff, there is some truth, and that is what keeps me digging.

I think you are misinterpreting what I am saying.  A decent constitution does not give a government rights but protects citizens from governments.  For example I would deny the right of any government to dictate what you do with your body or mind providing that does not harm other citizens.  I would also deny the rights of bankers and multi nationals to continue what you are doing regarding trade.  If you think that not having rules governing these bastards is a good thing then you are frankly out of touch with reality.  They will destroy any real civilisation if there are no rules.  A constitution is simply a set of rules.

I love research, researching any subject is difficult to let go once started. Time is the problem there. I love libraries have my whole life but again books and reading takes a lot of time.

I think calling anything paranoid or other such expressions today, a time when a person can be shot with an ice dart and given a "natural' heart attack for example is difficult.

I like to look at all possible sides to a thing from the farthest out there which is still a possibility, to the most mundane and then form my own opinion which comes also with a dose of my own personally trusted intuition.
