Collecting rainwater now illegal in many states as Big Government claims ownership over our water

Quote(NaturalNews) Many of the freedoms we enjoy here in the U.S. are quickly eroding as the nation transforms from the land of the free into the land of the enslaved, but what I'm about to share with you takes the assault on our freedoms to a whole new level. You may not be aware of this, but many Western states, including Utah, Washington and Colorado, have long outlawed individuals from collecting rainwater on their own properties because, according to officials, that rain belongs to someone else.

As bizarre as it sounds, laws restricting property owners from "diverting" water that falls on their own homes and land have been on the books for quite some time in many Western states. Only recently, as droughts and renewed interest in water conservation methods have become more common, have individuals and business owners started butting heads with law enforcement over the practice of collecting rainwater for personal use.

Check out this YouTube video of a news report out of Salt Lake City, Utah, about the issue. It's illegal in Utah to divert rainwater without a valid water right, and Mark Miller of Mark Miller Toyota, found this out the hard way.

Utah news reports that collecting/using rainwater is ILLEGAL

How long before the air we breath is illegal too? Well it doesn't rain a LOT here in Nevada, but I am going to install eves troughs and barrels now... just because they raised our water bill... And I think I will put in a gray water system

They got a issue with that, come get some...

Australian farmers who collect rainwater in their dams have to pay every year... its complete BS.. How can the government tax something they dont provide? Whats next? paying for the oxygen we breathe?

No that is a UK thing, not American :P

However you DO need a prescription for bottled oxygen in the US.

It used to be illegal here in Australia in some states to have rain water tanks connected to your home as well, but as until recently about 90% of Aus was in drought they changed that to make it illegal NOT to have rainwater tanks in most states!
Governments are mental!

It's actually illegal here to fill up a glass of water to drink from a creek or river for the same reason. You're "diverting" it. Fortunately, nobody will actually enforce it (yet).

Funny how they are allowed to "divert" it through their fluoridation systems and sell it back to us. :@@:

And although we're not taxed (yet) on the oxygen we breathe, being taxed on the CO2 we exhale is another story.

Makes you wonder how many carbon credits a politician is worth...

Carbon credit for killing animals  :o  And you Ozzies think we Yanks are crazy?  Though mind you, in the case of politicians, I might agree :D

I got an email from the San Diego water district about a new program to prevent watershed.  They will reimburse you for purchasing rain barrels and collecting rainwater.  I think is around 50 cents per gallon and up to $200.

Residential Rainwater Harvesting (Rain Barrel) Rebate Pilot Program

QuoteLandscapes can soak up more than 50% of the water used at a typical San Diego home. Capturing rain from your roof is a quick way to conserve water and help prevent pollution by reducing the amount of runoff entering our storm drain system. City of San Diego (City) Public Utilities residential customers that are served by an individual water meter can receive a cash-back rebate when purchasing and installing a rain barrel and connecting it to the home's rain gutter downspout. Read below to understand the program requirements and application process. Rebates will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis and funding is limited, so be sure to check this website regularly to determine funding availability.

So it seems not all officials are stupid.. best thing is to just keep protesting the lunacy by showing support via the internet and stuffing email boxes at news stations

:o When it rains you call the city up and demand they bring a suck-truck to your property and remove their rain water under whatever absurd bylaw it might be.  ;D  I would have so much fun with this.  ;D
