A Pyramid Found on Mars?
Odd Anomaly on Mars
Mast Head Camera (Mastcams) images for Sol 978
"Houston ...We found the missing capstone of the Great Pyramid... over..."
Say what? :P

Strange Object seen in Curiosity Mastcam
Is it a rock? Or did NASA find the long lost missing Capstone of the Giza Pyramid?
The raw images are available here

Why SCALE matters
::)

What is the scale?
I think about one foot tall, maybe two... but I have not yet found the scale on the curiosity images though I assume it would be similar to the other Rovers
Calling ArMaP :P
In another post they found this sphere... I know its a Blueberry :P but they don't want to hear that

So does the Pyramidal shape shown here and vast plains of geometric shapes finally become the smoking gun for "Electrical Sculpture" of the Mars surface?
Good question...
I know Hematite spheres form here on Earth because there are thousands in the Utah desert assocated with sedimentary rocks.. however electric arcing also produces iron spheres.
There are a lot of them all over Mars but the rock they are weathering out of is the same sedimentary type rock found in Utah... and they are weathering out. There is also no scarring evident near these spheres so my guess is that these are Martian Moqui Marbles :D

What is the scale?
I don't know, there aren't any references for the distance, but comparing that photo with the one from the left camera (that doesn't have a telephoto lens) it looks small and relatively far away.

I will try to find the "pyramid" on the navcams, those can be used to get the distance, as they have the same lens.
As it has been some time since I made my last panorama I thought this was a good time to make a new one, so here it is. :)
(click to go GigaPan for the full panorama)

It looks pretty small to me. It could be an ant tomb. :P ;D
Cool panorama. :)

Of course it is small I made that point at the beginning :P
It COULD be the tip of a bigger one too. May of the objects in Egypt were buried under tons of sand too.
It COULD be the missing capstone... although Arthur C clarke says that landed on the moon :P
It COULD be that the Martians are TINY

It COLD be just a piece of Basalt rock(common on Mars) that has a very nice shape
It IS however a valid ANOMALY Def: something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected.

I was trying to confirm whether it was small by finding the scale in case you were wrong. :P
