Mysterious Sounds Above Earth.

University of North Carolina Chapel Hill graduate student Daniel Bowman designed infrasound microphones that were flown into near-space on a high-altitude balloon flight conducted by NASA and the Louisiana Space Consortium last year. It recorded mysterious hisses and whistles that sound suspiciously like The X-Files' theme.

The sounds of colour and the light of a sigh.
And to hear the sun, what a thing to believe.
But it's all around if we could but perceive.
To know ultra-violet, infra-red and X-rays,
Beauty to find in so many ways.
