BLM to roundup Cold creek wild horses
Published 08/28 2015Now they are going after the last wild horse herd in Nevada
QuoteCold Creek, Nev.
Federal land managers say they will start rounding up the last wild horse herd in Southern Nevada tomorrow. The Bureau of Land Management says the horses at Cold Creek "are in very poor condition" because of the drought. Cold Creek is about 30 miles west of Las Vegas.
The gather will start tomorrow morning. BLM says it plans to take about 200 horses off the range. They expect it take anywhere from one week to one month to complete. BLM says the horses have been eating Joshua trees and other shrub that doesn't have sufficient nutritional value.
The town of Cold Creek has often fought to keep the horses from being rounded up. A gather hotline is being set up at 775-861-6700.
