Double-stunner: Stargazers to see total lunar eclipse, super moon in 1 night, first in 30 years

Sky watchers are getting ready for an extremely rare astronomical highlight of the season: a total lunar eclipse and a super moon that will happen simultaneously.
The stunning show will be visible to the naked eye, and will start next Sunday, September 27, between 5pm and 6pm PDT time (between midnight and 1am GMT on Monday).

The super moon, or a perigee full moon, means that the moon will seem 14 percent bigger, 30 percent brighter and fuller than usual. It happens because the moon will be at its closest point in its orbit around the Earth.

forgot this one

What is the Autumnal Equinox?

Fall begins on September 23, early in the morning at 4:21 A.M
.

The autumnal equinox is when the Sun appears to cross the celestial equator from north to south. (The celestial equator is the circle in the celestial sphere halfway between the celestial poles. It can be thought of as the plane of Earth's equator projected out onto the sphere.)

Another definition of fall is nights of below-freezing temperatures combined with days of temperatures below 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

The word equinox means "equal night"; night and day are about the same length of time. This occurs two times each year: Vernal in late March and Autumnal in late September.

In addition to the (approximately) equal hours of daylight and darkness, the equinoxes are times when the Sun's apparent motion undergoes the most rapid change. Around the time of the equinoxes, variations in the position on the horizon where the Sun rises and sets can be noticed from one day to the next by alert observers.

There do still remain a few possible Christian big deals this month, but these are the kinds of things that while we wait on them, they will happen in their own time, if not this month!!

While I do understand that some here are not interested in hearing about these things, it can be interesting, as some do spend a lot of time trying to figure the "big deal things" out, as according to the information related in the Bible. Here is one video example of someone who has put together several point pieces on a chart which do indicate possibilities in the next several days. :)

Jesus was born in spring :P

Even the Catholic Encyclopedia agrees with that  though they do have 3 possibles one in March. one in April and one in May... I suspect that is most likely a calendar issue :D

So when I saw on the opening pic in the video that Jesus's birthday is listed as Sept 21-23  I  call BS

Setting a fictitious date for his birthday that coincides with PAGAN equinoxes is BOGUS and doe not help credibility

Christmas
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03724b.htm

QuoteThe first evidence of the feast is from Egypt. About A.D. 200, Clement of Alexandria (Stromata I.21) says that certain Egyptian theologians "over curiously" assign, not the year alone, but the day of Christ's birth, placing it on 25 Pachon (20 May) in the twenty-eighth year of Augustus. [Ideler (Chron., II, 397, n.) thought they did this believing that the ninth month, in which Christ was born, was the ninth of their own calendar.] Others reached the date of 24 or 25 Pharmuthi (19 or 20 April). With Clement's evidence may be mentioned the "De paschæ computus", written in 243 and falsely ascribed to Cyprian (P.L., IV, 963 sqq.), which places Christ's birth on 28 March, because on that day the material sun was created. But Lupi has shown (Zaccaria, Dissertazioni ecc. del p. A.M. Lupi, Faenza, 1785, p. 219) that there is no month in the year to which respectable authorities have not assigned Christ's birth.

So seems NO ONE knows when He was born :P  That means any predictions based on an ASSUMED date that just happens to fit a particular theory can only be BOGUS

I don't know when Jesus was born, but I do know when Santa comes.  That's all I need to know.   :P

yes NORAD will start tracking Santa in a few weeks :P

BTW SANTA is an anagram of SATAN  :P

The mysterious visitor

Only with great caution should the mysterious benefactor of Christmas night — Knecht Ruprecht, Pelzmärtel on a wooden horse, St. Martin on a white charger, St. Nicholas and his "reformed" equivalent, Father Christmas — be ascribed to the stepping of a saint into the shoes of Woden, who, with his wife Berchta, descended on the nights between 25 December and 6 January, on a white horse to bless earth and men. Fires and blazing wheels starred the hills, houses were adorned, trials suspended and feasts celebrated (cf. Bonaccorse, op. cit., p. 151). Knecht Ruprecht, at any rate (first found in a mystery of 1668 and condemned in 1680 as a devil) was only a servant of the Holy Child.

They may make dates that are in error, but calendar differences Jewish vs Gregorian could cause that anyway.  And who really cares what the specific date of Jesus' birth was, as it matters not to the reality of the circumstances. Christians well know December 25 is simply a day for CHRISTIAN observance of the birth day of Jesus. It  generally is the non-christians who seem to find reasons for making fault and fun of it!

But, you and all certainly are free to think as you wish! :)

And pray tell, why do non- christians care one way or the other - oh I know, because they are continually trying to justify/rationalize not becoming a Christian, when over 1/3 of the world's population has!!  :o  :o .........  :'(  :'(

Why would they NOT care? How arrogant of you to asume that people would not care to have their beliefs usurped

Quoteoh I know, because they are continually trying to justify/rationalize not becoming a Christian, when over 1/3 of the world's population has!!

Christians are basically a flock of SHEEP  The LORD is THY Shepherd... the Church maintains its flock. It is therefor no surprise that people are easily swayed as the vast majority of the worlds population are indeed SHEEP... The only difference is which Shepherd they like better

Why would anyone hate you Gigas??

FWIW, the "shepherd" Z is referring to actually proffers salvation to all, and promises to saves his "flock of sheeple" from an eternal burning hell. :) Now that is the "BIGGEST DEAL" of all time!! :)

PROMISES are like predictions... useless if they don't come to pass :P

QuoteNow that is the "BIGGEST DEAL" of all time!! :)

I suppose if your a SHEEP it is good to have a Shepherd that promises to keep you safe... but every good Shepherd FLEECES those Sheep and enjoys the occasional leg of Mutton or Lamb chop :P

If being a Sheep based on a promise is good for you, then be my guest :D. Let's just hope your not a Lamb being led to the Slaughter

Well it is truth after all :P  I mean the Church even openly declares that their "followers" are a "flock of sheep" that require a Shepherd

Meanwhile the Saudi's have stepped it up a notch...

Saudi Arabia declares all atheists are terrorists in new law to crack down on political dissidents

QuoteSaudi Arabia has introduced a series of new laws which define atheists as terrorists, according to a report from Human Rights Watch.

In a string of royal decrees and an overarching new piece of legislation to deal with terrorism generally, the Saudi King Abdullah has clamped down on all forms of political dissent and protests that could "harm public order".

The new laws have largely been brought in to combat the growing number of Saudis travelling to take part in the civil war in Syria, who have previously returned with newfound training and ideas about overthrowing the monarchy.

To that end, King Abdullah issued Royal Decree 44, which criminalises "participating in hostilities outside the kingdom" with prison sentences of between three and 20 years, Human Rights Watch said.

Yet last month further regulations were issued by the Saudi interior ministry, identifying a broad list of groups which the government considers to be terrorist organisations - including the Muslim Brotherhood.

Article one of the new provisions defines terrorism as "calling for atheist thought in any form, or calling into question the fundamentals of the Islamic religion on which this country is based".
